Can someone splain me what happened to our once-poud baseball program?

Pretty much the same 40 time in HS. The difference is the footwork, Trahan was better at this stage.

I’m absolutely giving the highly recruited, hard practice worker a longer rope than the same guy who wasn’t highly recruited. Even if they’re equal in everything else. If you’re not as highly recruited you’ve got to out produce when you get your chance.

Your point?

I’m pretty sure Lucroy was a great practice player who took advantage of his opportunities.

I recall when Tony was asked about BT before his freshman season. Paraphrasing but it went something like, he was our top infield target and they had been on him a long time.

His defense was well above his age and his bat carried over to D1 pitching from the jump.

I’m not sure BT was even offered by any of the “bigger schools”. He flew under the radar playing in Kinder. Not long after another SS from there was offered by LSU...Dylan Poncho. LSU pulled his offer (I think) and he ended up at UL. He never panned out and I think he transferred out.

Yep and he had to earn his time behind the plate because his defense wasn't that good his freshman season during fall ball. His bat was better.

Being highly recruited isn’t always about talent and not being highly recruited doesn’t mean you aren’t highly talented. A lot of kids don’t have the means or exposure to be “highly recruited”. If “highly recruited kid” daddy was a shrimper and lived in grand isle he probably wouldn’t be highly recruited but doesn’t make him any less talented. Just because someone has the means to go to all these camps and showcases or plays at a high profile high school shouldn’t give them more opportunity. Lucroy had to earn it but if he was highly recruited they would have tolerated subpar defense?
