MBB Final: Louisiana 100, UT Arlington 79

I damn sure would rather say "We are ranked #2 or whatever in the Mid-Major Poll" than not ranked in anything. Of course, we would prefer to be ranked with Duke, KU, UNC, etc but something is always better than nothing. It doesn't exclude us from being ranked by the AP or SI. And I think if we hadn't lost to Ole Miss and/or Wyoming, we would be ranked in those.

You can be both a top ten program and a top 25 mid major. One has nothing to do with the other.

I truly understand not wanting to be viewed as anything except Division I.

I don’t want to get bogged down in this conversation because the team is too good. Don’t want to deflect positive attention.

And I don’t necessarily think it affects recruiting either. I’m just telling you, recognizing a mid major poll and posting it from our official accounts is very small time.

LOL. Nobody was offended on this side. We aren't offended by the "small time" nature of our university. We aren't calling out the admin and fanbase for not being embarrassed. Nobody is using this as a goal or point of reference. Its just using every positive thing out there to our advantage if possible. I don't think anybody is going to negative recruit against us with this poll nor do I think they can.

Who we are right now is not what we strive to be. But this poll isn't going to keep us from where we want to go.

Well the one ranking that we know means a heck of a lot is the RPI, and the Top 25 polls mirror the RPI a lot.

Mid Major polls are fools gold for those who want to think they are darn fine prospectors. It's hogwash, especially for a school supposedly dying to shed the small time ways of running an athletic department.

Im not calling anybody out either, just stated my opinion. I wouldn’t expect our football coach to promote we made the barstool sports top 25 of g5’s Either. College insider just doesn’t carry any weight, particularly when they exclude a conference we directly recruit against. I’d be curious to know how many teams in their poll have cut them Checks in previous years to play in their tournament.

CUSA is not considered a mid-major. They are considered a high major conference in basketball.
