Can’t complain about 1 sack and 3 tfl’s. They were top 25 in country in both.

Re: LGT Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
Cajuns won 23-17 and are now 7-1. Can we please move on?

By any standard, 4 tackles behind the line is a good night. He was knocked out the game in the 3rd quarter. He is definitely impressive.

I was thinking this has been the best post-game discussion in a while.

Agreed, I don’t understand the issue. Nobody is insulting anyone, and people are bringing up valid points on both sides.

I believe some people think that any discussion or question of a coaches' decisions and schemes is dissent. And this should not even be discussed because he or she is winning. Some also say that no one should question a coach because they are not qualified, which is a simple argument to shut discussion down. They almost look at successful coaches like a Deity, a true fan should never question him or her.
I enjoy discussing it, especially with former coaches and players because you get other points of view and can learn things that you may not have noticed during the games. We've had these same discussions concerning Deggs, Marlin, Former Softball Coach and I can assure you it will be done with Coach Habetz eventually. Lord, that day will certainly be entertaining. :)

Because of the Napier handcuffs, we will never know how much worse than himself he thought Desormeaux actually was.
In effect Napier was saying: "He's not good enough for me, but he's good enough for you."
Not diametrically opposed, its just UL had an unknown unknown on its hands.
Not necessarily, if I'm understanding you correctly. Just because Napier didn't think he was a good enough play caller, doesn't mean he can't be a good head football coach. You don't have to be a good play caller to be a good coach. That's why there's a whole coaching staff.

Can’t argue with you there. I even texted my group during the game to say, “I want to see us give the ball to Bill and his first step not be to the side.” I’d be interested to hear Des’ reasoning for the east/west run game.

Just kidding.
Of course we now know (three years down the road) that he can be a good head football coach.

Everything should be open for debate and questioning. Including poster’s opinions. If you can post your opinion you should be able to read criticism of it.

Funny, this post could be used almost verbatim to respond to how certain players running one of our current American Political Parties try to address free speech.
-dissent is bad
-unless you are an “expert” , you are not allowed to question other “experts”
-otherwise you are spreading “disinformation “

Do we REALLY want to go there? I hope not.

Re: LGT Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
When a few of these posters respond on this site to people voicing their opinions, thoughts, or analysis, they sound the way Cajun T describes.
“Yoh are Not expert enough to comment;” “stop criticizing the Athletic administration or Martin Hall or a particular program (no tolerance of “dissent”);” I was pointing out that I really don’t think those who respond this way are acting like those at the political level.
It is November 1 : so the analogy is quite relevant

If a coach is bad at something (example calling plays) and he hires a great OC, but continues to call plays, he is probably a bad coach

I guess we will just have to censor misinformation

Dez does occasionally say he would prefer his next comment to not leave the room. I like what he said in pregame on the culture video. Said it was our TEAM vs their players. Seems like the idea of building a culture where virtually all people involved put the team first and their individual desires second is not just words in our case

Re: LGT Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
I think,
Des has improved, super happy that he has, and he did well in the 4th quarter giving us a chance to win.
Ben’s composure and sheer determination in the 4th Qtr, was crucial. Can’t say enough about this because the game had very little flow to it, mistakes and injuries were dragging on any momentum created. He came through big time leading the team.
Our running game was very inconsistent, in part mostly to our OL being pushed around by a good DL. We still need a lot of improvement in this area. We did make some very nice 1st down conversion runs in the 4th qtr.
Our defense drives me nuts. Without those 2 great forced turnovers, we would have been in deep trouble. We give the other team so much cushion, we bend like marshmallows between the 20’s. However, we show great effort inside the 20. Also, we make just enough plays to stretch out drives, and it helps when the other team makes a crucial mistake.
Overall, a good win on the road. Geaux Cajuns.

That's a tough throw especially with the DB under cutting the pass. If he throws it a fraction later, it could have been picked and likely returned for a TD. He was throwing as Johnson was breaking into the out route, timing is critical. The ball looked to be a little behind and low, but if Johnson had made a better/ sharper break into the out route the ball would have been right on him. The receiver needs to be ready, he wasn't.
