By way of example, the University of Pennsylvania is a private university that is also an Ivy League school. Is it feasible?
Great question, I didn't know about that example.
Would getting out from under the Legislature be called Legxit or Lexit? :)

Going private? I'm pretty sure that the legislature would also want a complete accounting of the value of the university properties as they stand. Purely a wild guess, two billion in land value, and improvements. What about the university property in Iberia Parish, again a huge value to add into the equations. We'd have to also as a university figure out how much does the state add to the LA budget cash flow. Even though it's way down it's still a bundle that would have to be made up somewhere.

The moment in time when we will be 100% independent of state funding mechanisms is rapidly approaching. While I don't think we will be completely private due to the property issue, we will definitely be out from under their thumb while the other state schools besides lsu will be begging for scraps.
Great times are coming for the University of Louisiana.

I'll just leave this right here.

Any truth to rumors that this new push is already sinking?

That's what I'd like to verify. Heard that maybe the captain is deciding to turn the ship around after seeing some choppy waters.

What rumors are you speaking of?
Re: LA - The new "official" abbreviation for stats, crawls, etc
at least he said "university of Louisiana" that's one step... and the fact that they claim to listen to us, is a good sign that this has a chance. the other networks never said that, that I know of.
