A little write up on the master plan from the Advertiser website.

Yes, that was briefly touched on. He said for now, Blackham would stay, but that it would likely be removed at some point in the future. There was discussion of extending St. Landry on to Cajundome Blvd., which would cut through the Blackham complex. That would provide a direct linkage between the University Commons (athletic complex) and the Academic Campus without having to get onto Johnston St. I think that would be a phenomenal accomplishment!
I wish I was a billionaire...for many reasons. If this "dream" of mine was reality, this master plan would be fully funded and completed in under five years. It's fun to dream though!
Construction continues to progress in the Rose Garden.
First residence hall has three stairwells finished and the elevator shaft almost finished. Foreground is finished earthwork for second residence hall.

They placed concrete for the foundation and post tension slab early on the Morning of Saturday November 5, 2011. They were still finishing it when I left for the football game at 11:30 A.M.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/66590213@N05/6320519187/" title="slab-concrete by Rosegardendorms, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6229/6320519187_49a95d4f5b.jpg" width="500" height="380" alt="slab-concrete"></a>
Close up of one of the Post Tension (PT) cables. They will wreck the forms early this week. The PT crew will come back later in the week and clamp on to the cable. They will then place a tension on the cable with a hydraulic ram. They will place a wedge in a thimble around the cable that is cast in the concrete and then release the cable from the hydraulic ram. The cable stays in tension in the slab. the cable is placed inside a plastic sheath to keep the concrete from adhering to it. Not a good idea to be standing in line with the cable. The wegdes have been known to slip and shoot stuff all over the place.

Remember this view. This is looking to University from Boucher. One of the new residence halls is to the left. The other will be to the right. This will be an alley between the to new halls.

Once the Fall semester is over they will move on to the renovation of Harris, Randolph and Buchanan halls. The entire block will be fenced off and I will have to sneak in on Sundays with Hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses and steel toed boots. It helps to know the general superintendent too. Because if this I don't know if I will be able to have a consistent view point of the project from beginning to end.
It is so wonderful being able to see photos of what is happening on campus. Thank you for the record of the construction that you are keeping. I like it when I see that you have a post on the construction.
Front columns of Huger Hall being installed. They come split in half and they are bonded together on site. The middle two columns have straps around them to hold it together until the adhesive sets.

We will see if they were able to improve on the installation of the AC lines over the installation behind Baker.

Thank you very much. Being that my house is right across the street it's really not that hard to do. I started out photgraphing on Saturdays but since they have moved to the Rose Garden area I'm thinking I will have to photograph on Sunday as i will have to sneak in and the best day to do that is when they are not working that much. At first they were working seven days a week but lately they are taking Sunday off.
Just an idea ---How about having some photo shop give a beautiful album that you can give the history to the university and the company doing the work---The price will be a huge contribution to RCAF---Top level only will get the album!!! What say you????
Once a month, I drop off a copy of all the photos (the not so good, the bad and the ugly) to Dr. Savoie, Troy Dunnam (the general superintendent) and Steve Oubre. What they do with them after that I don't know.
The general contractor knows somebody with a plane that they regularly fly to Houston. They make a swing over the campus and take some really nice aerial shots.
Huger is very close to being finished on time for Thanksgiving.
The entrance to Huger getting it's finishing touches.

They have used the parking lot behind Hamilton Hall as a storage area and there is very little material there now. In two weeks it will all be gone.
The Rose Garden construction continues to progress.
Foreground is concrete slab placed early morning of Friday 11/11/11. They are wrecking forms on this area and getting ready to place concrete in the area in the background.

The rear of Baker Hall. Looks like they will have room for benches and other things. There is very little material stored in the parking lot behind Hamilton Hall. They were shooting to be finished for Thanksgiving but I don't think they will make it. I give them two weeks, give or take a day or two.

I saw my neighbor yesterday afternoon and he said as soon as the residence halls are finished they will start on the Student Union renovation. This may be the longest thread in Ragin Pagin history.
This thread makes me wantto go back to school...but not back to class
So jealous after living in the Pit of Despair that was Voorhies Hall.
Rain Tuesday 11/22 along with Thanksgiving and rain again on 11/26 rsults in not much work this past week. There was no work from Thanksgiving to today Sunday 11/27. I think that is the first time since construction began that there has been a suspension of work for that long. Today Sunday 11/27 there was one guy on the site running pumps to dewater excavations so they could work tomorrow. It was kind of nice to have some quite time in the area.
This is a composite photo of the first Rose Garden Residence hall. There is a large pile of prefabricated truss joists in the left foreground. It will be a while before they need these because the interior walls are not framed yet. Maybe by the end of this coming week if they get good weather.
