Yeah, I think people put too much into being "local" Some people thought it was a great hire because he's an alum and he would be loyal but didn't question the amount of experience. Maybe he goes on to prove it was the right decision but to suggest so just because he was a local guy is goofy. Same thing with saying he wouldn't take a job that pays him substantially more and is a larger scale job because he likes it here and is from here is just as goofy.

I don’t think it’s “Goofy”. I turned Down a few jobs making more money to stay in Lafayette. I know many people who would take less to come back.

I turned down 35% more in NO to come back to Lafayette when I finished law school.

Regardless of what ultimately happened to him, Willie Taggart was a WKU Alum who went on to coach WKU (quite well I should add) for 2-3 years before moving on to bigger and better pay checks.
If Des has a similar year next year, I GUARANTEE he will get an offer from somewhere for more money (heck might happen at end of this season).
So he sticks around for $1M ish at UL, or does he move on to another program IF they offer him, say 4 years with $20m ? That is a LOT of $ to test one's loyalty

Hey, if this year continues the way it’s currently going, he may get well over a million here AND incentives. Plus, he may be so popular that he does some commercials and promotions. He could do quite well here rather than move to a place that doesn’t have po boys and boudin.
