I usually don't care much either way with all this stuff, I just say UL cause that's what we are and figure everything else will fall into place over time. But t-joe has literally fukced us bad.

NO school will be the University of Louisiana. ULM will either stay with that name or change back to NLU, but as North Louisiana University which their fans prefer. That is not even a consideration. In fact, if we changed, they would need to find a second school or be forced to change.
Acadiana University or University of Acadiana reminds me of Auburn. We are a university with Frenxh heritage, the FDL is French, and Acadiana is Cajun. All of Louisiana is not Cajun. We can still be Tier 1 regardless of our name. Acadiana or back to USL, but as South Louisiana. We would be in good company with USF, UNT, USA, UCF, USC, and USM. The point is, we need a clear identity which we thought we had with Louisiana. That ship has now sailed with this announcement except among alums and local media which might now change.
Admittedly, this is a knee jerk reaction and frustrated response to being blind-sighted with this today. But we need an identity and UL-L is NOT it. We went from a double directional to hyphenated school and this should not stand for any of us. 13 years of fighting this and this is what we get? Nothing seems to get thought out for long term effects. Certainly, Dr. A didn't consider better name options for us. I wonder if Dr. S is aware of what he is about to face over this.
