But dang, if he could come here be as successful as CBN, he could tehn get a P5 HC job before he is 40.
Dan Lanning is the defensive play caller with Georgia but both are highly involved in the game planning.
Lanning is only 35 as well so still very young.
This job will have a lot of highly thought of candidates.

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
I like Lanning. I really like Golding. But as far as fit goes, I love Jeff Lebby.
Don’t know if it was posted yet, but Brent Pry to VaTech is a done deal. Happy for him and his family. What happened with our search last time around was unfortunate for him. He will thrive in Blacksburg.

He strikes me as a guy not ready to be a head coach yet. Talented young DC that still has some growing to do.

Jeff Lebby I am really high on…. I think Gattis is very interesting also…. From a defensive perspective I like PT and Schumann…It is all about a culture fit and can they keep this cULture swag going with 10 win seasons…. West division title should be our expectation every year. Also what kind of recruiting connection do they have down here because LA, TX, and Gulf coast are your bread and butter.

I need to read up on Lebby. And I added him to the list.

I think we'll be closer to naming legitimate candidates if we think about what Dr. Maggard might do or is looking for as opposed to who we want.
And, while he may not have specifically said something in a press conference, every hire he's made has a good moral compass.
Character matters. In fact, I believe that's the biggest thing with Dr. Maggard.

Lebby is a good coach. I don’t think Maggard will hire him unless he can convince him that the Baylor stuff is overblown.

That’s why I don’t think Lebby is an actual contender for the job.

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
Think back 4 years ago . . . the ink was not yet dry on Pry and Napier was the coach the next day . . . until the fat lady sings, nobody is the coach of the Louisiana football team . . . unless you heard it from my lips, its probably not true . . .
Glad Pry finally got his head coaching position as he was given a solid last time around . . .

Jay: anyone you think we should add or remove from the current list?

I would remove anyone with perceived past character issues unless they can prove otherwise.
But honestly, we are going to have, what...100 applicants or more for this job.
And Maggard will interview probably five or six.
Billy Napier came out of nowhere. The next coach might, as well.

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
Just from the WAY outside looking in, I think Jay Johnson is the guy that I see that fits the profile the best. And I think I would be good with that hire if it actually happens.
-
Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
I think I will wait for the white smoke to come from Dr Maggards office.

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
Jay Johnson would be a excellent choice.

Huge fan of Jay Johnson. He’s a super coordinator. I don’t think he’s a HC.
Before we start dismissing Lebby.. If we automatically eliminated any coach that’s been around some sort of scandal or impropriety, we’d have a very short list. I won’t pretend like I got that name from Maggard, but I did get it from 2 different people in his orbit. I fully expect Jeff Lebby to get an interview; as I do Pete Golding.
We shall see.

Who is responsible for providing airport reports? This should already have started. There could have already been activity that RP needs to monitor.

Where the hell is Dave Schulz when we need him!

Could there be a previous relationship between Dr. Maggard and Barry Odom? Odom is 45 years old with head coaching experience. He checks most of the boxes we are looking for and he has previously worked with Dr. Maggard at Missouri.

Connection through time with Missouri. Alex Grinch and Josh Henson as well.
