So what would happen if for example four quote, unquote mid majors were represented in the top 25? Would either ranking be undesirable?

By the way, regardless of an arbitrary and fictional poll Middle Tennessee is still a mid major whose ranked in the top 25 this week.

They still should have visited that school in years past and have a presence. You don’t go to schools only when they have a kid, that’s not how you build relationships and certainly not a smart way to recruit. Which might explain a lot. If a kid doesn’t know who we are it’s not because we didn’t retweet the mid major poll...which they would have to know who we are to see the tweet, Im not asking the coaches request to be removed, stop embracing the label.

Talked to Dr. Maggard about this tonight. He thinks publicizing our standing in the mid major poll is fine.

That’s cool, i disagree, i can’t make him be right. Hopefully he learns from mistakes. Acknowledging a poll that thinks we are below CUSA is a joke.

You might be thinking of a school with a $100 mil budget that can afford to scout schools with no talent.

Alvin Dark didn't even know that 4 MLB scouts were watching him when he played at UL.

He didn't know, but it was reported in the Vermilion.

Its good publicity. So, are we supposed to not acknowledge it? Being amongst the best mid major programs when there are so many in the country is not really a bad thing. The "poll" is not going anywhere. It will continue to be published and pushed. I can see it now, we refuse to acknowledge it and so many of our fans claim the school is not doing everything it can to push our brand and accomplishments.

No I’m not, these coaches recruit on relationships and you aren’t gonna keep many relationships stopping by every 4 or 5 years or only when they have a kid. You will be late to the party every time. Budget has nothing to do with it except for how far you go and if you get there in a rental car or private plane. Less budget is smaller radius, more driving and crappier hotels, less expensive meals.

Did you really just reference a guy being recruited in the 1940’s?

It doesn’t even know which conferences are mid major, why would anyone put any stock in that? If our AD would come out and say “ we aren’t going to be labeled a mid-major, we are trying to build a championship program in every sport, nothing mid-major about what we are trying to accomplish here” i don’t think one fan would be upset about that.
