Some of u guys post really get me sometime because imo, u really don’t know the game of basketball, idk where to start, lets go with payton, to say he is not a point guard is pure ignorance, someone brought up rondo in an early post and they were correct, stop watching nba scoring point gaurds like, westbrook, derrick rose, d Williams etc and expect every pg to be like that, those guys are really sg who can handle the rock. Payton turnovers has nothing to do with his lack of ball handling, its more about his decision making which will come in time, he just turned 18. As far as jj is concerned, if you notice, it seems like his baskets are tuff to go by this year. Its really simple, jj is the perfect case of a strong undersized post player, think about who he had on the court with him last year, daigle, bureau, gary, and brown, when jj was on the court with these guys, he got a lot of easy buckets because you couldn’t leave the other players to double team jj, so he was always 1 on 1, now with a lack of perimeter shooting, teams can now collapse on jj and make his shot tough,I hate that this suspension has happen, neither side wins, but as someone who knows more about this situation than 99 percent of u on this board, please reframe from jumping to conclusions either way. I like marlin, mone and jj, all I can say is I wish they could’ve have seen eye to eye, if anybody have anything they want to say or ask me, feel free, I will respond but as someone who has recently been apart of this staff, I will not say anything to discredit this program

Wouldn't Marlin being smart enough to hire Johnson and Hardin be a good thing for Marlin?

This thread is a circus.
Bob Marlin is the men's basketball coach at our university. He has to make decisions that he thinks are for the betterment of the program. Not all decisions will be popular, and not all will be correct, but to even think he is making decisions "for no reason at all" is ridiculous. The man's livelihood rests on these decisions. Unless he has completely gone insane, and all of a sudden just "winging it" through life, there has to be some justification for the choices he makes. Bob Marlin was hired to be the Head Coach here, and with that title, make these kind of decisions...decisions that not only affect his program, but affect his family. He was hired to do the job, so let him do the job. If he's unsuccessful, find somebody else, but to read some of the things being said here because he suspended a couple players is just mind boggling.

So Bob Marlin has gone to two NCAA tourneys, recruited people who got to the pros, took Sam Houston from nothing to the best Southland team over a decade, and I mean nothing. Has no history of trashing and canning people like John Brady.
Can he recruit? Case has not yet even gone to the jury.
First year coaches usually come in the spring, you cannot judge the first year, but JJ seems to be a player when healthy and in the right frame of mind.
Second year: Payton is a good find, a very good find. Big number 20 is a good find, who played well in several games, needs to develop stamina. The transfer for Mississippi State, Long. When he was being recruited for this years class almost everyone on this board was dissappointed he went to Mississippi State. Now he is a Cajun, but gets dissed because he did not fit in at Mississippi State, still a great prospect.
Number 23 is a solid player, 21 a good solid player.
Yea Marlin may have struck out with Pancake, but whose fault is that. A good prospect gets bad advise from people he trusts.
It is way too early to start demanding change. Duke coach said he was very fortunate he had a administration who believed in him after his second year because he was not getting it done. Not saying Marlin is Coach K, but I am saying Coach K needed more than two years to get Duke going right. A lesser coach may need a little more time to right a ship that was in much more trouble at its' level that Duke was at its' level back then.

And the year we beat Sam Houston our team shot ... well like ULM did against us. Sometimes anybody can throw it in the ocean. We never shot like that again that year not did ULM this year.

Apparently coach pulled your scholly before you got to the classes in Griffin Hall. I'd be perturbed too.
