I had lunch and visited with prosecutor Kieth Stutes yesterday-----great guy and was able to ask him some personal questions on the case ---came away knowing what a great professional he is and that all can be proud of how the Acadiana community stepped forward after this horrendous act---but, hey, we do the same in hurricanes and other disasters----WE are the Ragin' Cajuns and Creoles that make up the best place in the world to live!!!!
I'm sure Mr. & Mrs Shunick are proud of both of them.
In a new set of court filings, confessed killer Brandon Scott Lavergne is asking a judge to release to him the names of grand jury witnesses who testified against him and the transcript of a secretly recorded meeting with his ex-wife while he was jailed in 2004.
Convicted killer Brandon Lavergne is accusing prosecutors and police detectives of lying about the Mickey Shunick murder case on the national television show "Dateline," while prosecutors have asked a judge to dismiss Lavergne's requests for documents, including grand jury witness names and testimony.
This maggot thinks he should have a lifestyle in prison that is different than someone who admitted to similar crimes. The Daily Disappointment is fueling his ego every time they print something about him. They are both scumbags.

Mickey’s Legacy, a new nonprofit organization, has been formed as a collaboration between the Shunick family and Paula Stude Alesi, the executive director of the local nonprofit Wild Cat Foundation, to help children and animals.
“She has left us, but a lot of desperate creatures are still in chaos and pain,” a flier introducing Mickey’s Legacy reads. “They could use some help, in Mickey’s memory.”
Mickey’s Legacy launched this week with public service announcements on area radio stations that feature the voice of Nancy Rowe, Shunick’s mother.
For animals, the new nonprofit includes a low-cost spay-neuter fund, reading workshops about pets and wellness services at no cost to pets belonging to victims of domestic violence in Faith House of Acadiana.
Alesi took part in the Bring Mickey Home effort in the same way as much of Acadiana — by joining searches, posting fliers and wearing Bring Mickey Home buttons.
She also learned that Shunick’s dog, Hogarth, was neutered at SpayNation, a program of the Wild Cat Foundation.
The idea for Mickey’s Legacy began solely as a spay-neuter fund but expanded during brainstorming sessions with the family when the name Mickey’s Legacy was chosen, Alesi said.
“We wanted it to be something big that would keep her legacy alive,” Alesi said. “We’re trying to cover all the bases in the animal community.”
Mickey’s Legacy hopes to help children by encouraging area educators to take a three-week online course called RedRover Readers, which promotes empathy, compassion and critical thinking.
“I didn’t realize the importance of education until Mickey Shunick was murdered,” Alesi said. “Once I really started opening my eyes to it, I just realized we needed to do more. It dawned on me that if Brandon Scott Lavergne would have had some compassion and empathy, this wouldn’t have happened.”
Alesi and Rowe are calling upon the community to make donations to the fund and calling upon educators to help mold the next generation.
“Let’s make sure every child has the ability to understand the feelings of others,” Rowe says in the radio announcements. “Teach your students critical thinking, so they can learn empathy and compassion. Be a part of Mickey’s Legacy.” -->
With the one-year disappearance of Mickey Shunick approaching this Sunday, the family and friends of the slain university student say they are working to make sure she is not forgotten.
