I'm curious as to why different guys weren't given the start against JSU instead of last night. Maybe a loss to JSU is perceived to be a bigger deal than a win against Moo St?

Deggs spends too much time and effort “sending messages” and playing musical chairs with the lineup for me. That being said, I am typing on a
message board and he is a D1 coach.
His system works it is sometimes very head scratching and frustrating.

You can have success many different ways in baseball. I'm not saying the man is wrong. I'm saying that this style of baseball is very frustrating to watch for old school baseball people, of which I consider myself one. When it works, its fun. And that's great. But when it doesn't, it's really ____ing off.
I can get to Baton Rouge plenty of ways. I just think taking H167 to H90 to H354 to H31 to H741 to H190 to H77 to H76 to I10 to H1 to back to H190 to I110 is less than efficient.

I’m curious how his approach translates to the next level. As a player and a coach. I remember hearing his hitting approach is less than desirable professionally, but then again I think I read that here so who knows.

Deggs is not doing anything different now than he did when he was here in 2013 and 2014. He had 9-11 position players that could flat out play during that time. That was it back then so he didn't juggle the lineup as much as he's done since becoming head coach over here. He has more options and actually more position depth than he had in '13 and '14. That's not saying this group is more talented than those teams but he does have more players to give opportunities to. That won't change and his style won't change either. He was super aggressive on the bases then and he's the same way now. Head scratching moments back then and the same now. He's a gambler like it or not. Very non traditional to say the least but this guy will win and it will be exciting.

Based off of history….no. We will run him into the ground and his offense will start to slip

Back in 13 and 14 he had a guy that wrote the lineup card. Its totally different when you got the pen in your hand. Say what you want, Robe knew what buttons to push and when to push them

The lefty that threw started 15 games last year for VCU (5-3 with a 3.60 ERA, and was 8-2 with 5 saves the year before). VCU was a 42 win team that was in a regional. And Harris was their opening game starter and beat Georgia.
Cajuns out hit Miss State 10-7 tonight.
Left them loaded once, 2nd and 3rd once and had corners with 1 out for the Marusak “auto strike” situation…and didn’t score. That was the game.
Meanwhile State scored one of their runs with a man at 3rd on a swinging bunt.
This was definitely a winnable game. But there were a lot of positives.
Again, they won’t see pitching like that very often from this point forward.
Two take aways for me is we left too many on base in scoring position. Situational hitting still needs to improve. And pitching roles are still being worked out. Both need to start falli g into place this weekend.

Agree. And I get it. I'm not really for or against. Just annoying af a large majority of the time. I think it says a lot that we improve down the stretch of the season when roles are truly defined. Baseball is a game of regimen and expectation and I can only imagine how difficult it is to have your role constantly being changed. Conference play this weekend and we are still auditioning for key roles. Not my style, but it's what we got. I just want to win.
