Amazing isn’t it! Thankful he’s up and moving. Football is probably still secondary this AM.

Saw a picture of him this morning on X with the team on the plane home last night.
That was the best news of the night. Seeing the hit and seeing the reaction of the trainers, I dont think anyone would have expected that outcome.

Re: Live Game Talk Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
Solid win in tight game last night. Talent wise, TX St. has come a long way and speedy. No longer hapless. Think we've knocked them out of the running for the SBC West. But we're making great strides this year, too. Our kicking game was huge. We won the turnover battle. Defense made the stops when they had to. I don't know how the in stadium game atmosphere was, but for a TV game, it kept you glued to your seat. Will be interesting to learn the viewership numbers next week.

Re: Live Game Talk Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
I feel like this was a defining game in Dez career. Was it a big win over a big P5? No. Was it a big win over a ranked team? No. And while it was a big conference win, it wasn't that either, necessarily. I've still been on a "jury is still out on Dez". It's a very important year 3, where the first 2 years were, let's say, less than ideal. It was easy to see where he was falling short. Making mistakes. His limited ability to get coaches outside his personal friends/ex teammates/coaches. And even though this year we still saw a lot of areas that needed fixing, it seemed to me that he had reached another level. Still a bit leary, because of the level of completion, there seemed something different about this team and staff. And last night, in a game that was very important in order to stay in the race for a conference title, against a pretty good team, on the road, in a game nationally broadcasted . . . we didn't just show up. And yes, despite still seeing areas that need to be fixed, we're not just showing up and winning . . . we're learning how to FINISH! I'm so damn excited to see how this season ends! I believe we took a "next step". Every game is important from here on out, and none may be bigger than that ULM game, believe it or not. Running the table is a distinct reality. A playoff spot is still a possibility I believe. This season is starting to feel . . . special! This year just feels different. Either way . . . . . . GEAUX CAJUNS!!!!
LETS F'ing FINISH!!!!!!!!

Complete honesty:
ALTHOUGH I absolutely love Des, and did 3 years ago, I did NOT think he was ready.
This season has wonderfully proven me wrong and I ain’t ashamed to say it!

Think of all the times we have ____ the bed in games like this on national TV. It’s definitely leadership that changes that.
Now, if we could just tackle better and eliminate false starts.

Re: Live Game Talk Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
We are witnessing one of the greatest seasons by any Cajun QB in history. Not just stat wise, but on field decisions and leadership is astounding.
-
Re: Live Game Talk Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
If we ever play a perfect game or a 90% perfect game, watch out. We made lots of mistakes last night but still played well enough to beat a pretty good team who should have been very fired up to beat us. If we clean up the penalties, miss a couple fewer tackles, drop a pass or two less, and finish one of the FG drives with a TD, we would be scary, scary good.
Right now we are better than I thought we would be, for sure. Still wishing we had that toolame game back!

Been on Team Des since 2005. Being 7-1 in this era of CFB is truly outstanding, ecstatic for him and for us.

Re: Live Game Talk Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
I have been discussing this new College Football paradigm with several people for several
Months. Like it or not:
1 nil is here to stay (and is going to get “worse” IMO)
2 nil and all that goes with it, will allow some players to switch schools every year for (heck) maybe 6-7 years (based on red shirts, waivers etc).
3 the norm will be FOR ALL TEAMS - and their personnel - to have a 50% ish (or more) turnover EVERY YEAR
-So coaches must learn how to navigate this new mine field or they will NOT succeed.
-This is why Saban retired.
-Like him or not, D Sanders is one of the best at understanding this (and will only get better)
-I hope Des and his staff also see this better than any of us (it appears they do) and leverage this reality every year.
Final thought: we may get a world class player once in a while - but based on our G6 status- we better understand that when we do, we only get that player FOR ONE YEAR (so we better exploit the heck out of that world class player for that year)
Once he finishes that one year, 99% sure he is off to bigger, better, more profitable pastures (lacy, zeon, those players Napier took, etc)
EXCEPTION: BSU’s Jeanty

Oh, I'm sure there's some p5s out there that could throw enough $$$ at Jeanty to make him want to leave Boise.

He's a junior, so he's off to the other professional league for bigger money.

Read an interview with him and he admitted that he was courted by several big money programs (he didn’t mention any specifics) but said based on his relationship with the current BSU HC ( and “enough” NIL for him at BSU) he decided to stay. Again as I mentioned that is a rare EXCEPTION

Re: Live Game Talk Final: Louisiana 23, Texas State 17
I was impressed with the Tx St crowd for a Tuesday and coming off a disappointing loss. They seem to be building some bridges with their students compared to previous trips there.
Too bad it game wasn’t on a Saturday. It would have been a great environment.
