This is a problem and the more we force these large groups not to want to support our team.

I don't have many or really any inside sources, but I do in this case. A good friend was big into the Greek community years ago and worked under the current leader of Student Affairs. My friend loves UL but got fed up with everything going on and the leader of this department and exited.

The way they are managing Student Affairs, Engagement, and especially the Greeks, is directionless and apparently very vindictive. "We know better than you so we're doing it this way. If it doesn't work, it's not our fault, it's yours."

Usually when stuff like this comes up and everyone is in a buzz, I try to take it with a grain of salt. But just talking to people who know about the way things used to work here and have worked at major universities, what this department has done to the university over the past decade under their current leadership is verifiably terrible.

My one thing is please don't boycott. I know a point needs to be made, but can something else be done to prove it?

Jumping to lots of conclusions there buddy. Maybe, just maybe, I'm looking at things from an adult perspective and seeing all sides. What side would you be on if a student dies from too much alcohol while playing beer pong at the fraternity house? Would you still be saying rules are stupid and the kid should have known better?

This came from a friend of mine.

“My coworker is in a sorority and she just told me that the reason they said no drinking games at the tailgate this weekend is because it’s family weekend.
When they were notified of this, the frats and sororities said fine, we’ll just hang out at our houses before the game. When the university got word of that, they were informed that this wasn’t allowed either this weekend.”

So the university banned Greek House visits (that these Greeks pay for and live in) AFTER finding out that the Greeks would just go tailgate there instead with these “rules” being enforced.

There’s no excuse for this foolishness.

Student attendance hasn’t been great because it is deliberately sabotaged by this university. You want to know why we have a 30 year gap in our average aging fan base?

You really can’t be this dense. This administration continues to poison the future well of donations. Once those older major donors are gone, there is no one to replace them because we failed to cultivate a fan base/donor group through students.

It’s right out of the fossils handbook.

No back to your shilling for the ineptitude of this administration.

The "adult" thing to do would be for the university to leave the students alone. Every college with a football team has this type of liability. And I'm petty sure those schools aren't as nit picky and petty about enforcing their "rules" on the students whenever it's convenient for them.

Pick and prod long enough, and we won't have a fan base in about 10-15 years because all of our future fans/donors will remember this stuff as their college experience and won't come back.

adult? moi thinks rational people can agree kicking kids out of their houses and taking away their regular tailgating routines with no reason or prior enforcement just because its family day is head scratching at worst and vindictive at best. my niece who is at ul right now is telling me the reason the greek houses will be guarded is when the notices were sent to the frats the frats told their leadership they would just stay home and play beer pong. the heidie woman responds with kicking the kids out of their houses for the day. now tell me who the adult here is

I know we're dunking on Coach Chris right now, and I'm SOOOO here for it, but this is the exact thinking that has decimated any real chance at a robust fanbase for 60 years. The "take it or leave it approach" as someone else perfectly stated.

There is a reason we can't get above 2K donors in RCAF. There is a reason we can't get 20K in CF. There is a reason we can't draw flies to the CD without Russell dressing up in a 50 year old Chicken costume. All we have to do is look around. As the Beestie Boys once said, "ITS SABOTAGGGGEEEE."

Just pointing out why the University is worried about liability on campus property. Some people are looking at this with blinders. Anyone who looks from the outside in to see both sides is a "boot licker".

Solutions have been presented. More times than can be counted.

Students go where the drinking is.. We used to drive to BR on Saturdays because LSU's student tailgating was a free for all. We weren't there supporting LSU -- never attended a game -- we were there because it was a wild college party in every direction.

Then come to Cajun Field and wander around the parking lot , and if you manage to get your hands on a beer there's plenty of cops to write you an MIP.

It's amazing to watch a university named Louisiana Ragin Cajuns lean so hard away from everything that that name would imply.

If my wife cheats on me then that’s my fault. If the students can’t go inside their own homes then that is their fault. Am I doing this right?

So “Family Day” is being used as a reason…but I have a question.

Should we want EVERY home game to be “Family Day” at Cajun Field? Shouldn’t we want entire families showing up all 6 games a season?

And if so, then what good does this one Saturday promotion really do, and especially what good does it do if you trying to hide the “ugliness” of the Greek orgs for just that one day?

And don’t some of the Greeks have families too that show up at Cajun Field? Maybe some more than just this one Saturday per season.
