Pumper truck finished about 1:30. Lets see if they can make another placement Saturday. I can just make out forms being set already for that placement.

I am going over to take a picture now of the progress. I will try to make a video Sat. and see if I can post to Youtube.
Busting rods this morning. We will see if they can make a concrete placement this afternoon or tomorrow. A row every two days is great progress. I think I am starting to see activity for the concession/rest room buildings (not sure about that though.
Noticed that too. Question though, what's going to be the fencing behind the restroom area? I hope they go the route of wrought iron fencing and bricked columns, kind of like how they have in every other venue. That spray-painted chain link fencing was an abomination
I would suspect that anything they do back there between now and the time they finish with the expansion to the IPF will be temporary. We will see things this fall football season that are not going to be permanent in this area. Mostly what ever we see, will be there to keep people out of the construction zones and to allow for temporary access to the field. That is the building that currently houses the athletic offices and locker rooms will still be there.
I have a scoring program. I keep score of every game. At the end of the season I copy all games and put them in a folder. Been doing this for about 10 years now. Have every game and stats in a folder on computer. This program has every stat you can think of in baseball. Even if they leave the dugout to take a crap......:) Where do you sit Boomer?.......
Yes, Ron and Caroline sit next to me. Great People. Of course Ron always give me hell at the game for not posting pictures of the construction. I tell him, once you see a white cat it is always white. When it changes to black I will take the next picture.....but that just don't satisfy him in the least.....
Looks like they might be ready to make another pour. They may wait tomorrow.
It all depends if the concrete finishers or pumper truck is available. Both have to be available along with the concrete plant at the same time. From what I could see it takes them about 3 hours to place the concrete and and an additional 2 or 3 to finish. That may place them after sunset it should still be OK because they can turn on the lights.
I was expecting it to be poured today. That is what they told me yesterday. I am going to the baseball game at 5, and would have liked to video it.....maybe next pour....
Concrete placed and being finished.
Next pour will be Tuesday. Saw the drawing of the new stadium and concession area. Looks like the pictures we have been seeing. The engineer on site gave me a hard hat and said that I could go on site to take pictures with no problem......They will start the concession section after they finish the seating. He also said the progress will begin to go a little faster. They will also work at night because of the heat during the day. And it will all be finish by Aug. 30. Then the Athletic center next.....great to be a Cajun.......
My five daughters and I painted the North End Zone fence that day. It was messy with the wind blowing drips from the paint on the chain link all over us. Gerald Hebert organized a group of kids that had do community service hours from traffic tickets. The kids were offered double hours working at the stadium that day instead of picking up trash on the road. One older guy showed up with a shirt and cap from the school to the east. I talked to him several times, bringing him paint & brushes etc. He couldn't believe how friendly everyone at UL was and that he was fed for free. I think we won him over that day. All of the volunteers back then were the building blocks for where we are today. (That was the same day that the "Lafayette" sign disappeared from the end zone)
Busting rods today. Looks like concrete tomorrow early. (like before sunrise).
Would like to take some video of the pouring, but before sunrise, that when I get my best sleeping in......New avatar, listening to Jay and scoring games.......
helmut,
how high up will they need to be before they start the next process, which i guess would be bolted supports for the bleachers, or will this be completed after all concrete is poured. i understand there's no wait time for setting or anything like that, just wondering what kind of overlap they may have.
They could start placing seating the day after they place the concrete BUT installing the seating goes much faster than placing concrete. The people that install the seating are probably not from here so they have to move in to do it. I would not expect to see seating until all of the concrete work is finished so there is only one mobilization.
Also, if the seating is installed too soon then there is a risk of damage to it by other trades which results in finger pointing. So to minimize any potential conflicts and to get the job done faster, seating will probably be installed after all other work in the bowl section of the stadium is completed. I would not expect it to take much over two weeks ti install the seating.
Concrete placed this morning. They will be setting forms and busting rods today. Maybe another concrete placement tomorrow.
what's up with the crane, what would be heavy lifting down there?
helmut,
whats the line for about 10' above the last section they poured, i can't see it to clearly but it looks like they are cutting into the mud slab.
