I thought I remembered that, but couldn't recall who hired him away, so had trouble researching it.
Karl Scott, right?

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
I think I heard somewhere that it was Karl Scott. :D
Count me in as a fan of the idea of Patrick Tony being the new head coach at Louisiana. Of course, I will also be a huge fan of whichever guy Maggard thinks is the man to continue what CBN started.
Geaux Cajuns!

Karl Scott. Was Ron Robert's DC at SLU and was at UL for a week before Saban called. Now in the NFL with the Vikings.

We will be committed to finding a coach who exemplifies the values of the University of Louisiana, the Department of Athletics, and the Cajun culture, an individual who prioritizes the academic success of our student-athletes, builds positive relationships with those he coaches, is a relentless recruiter, establishes tremendous rapport with Louisiana high school coaches, places a strong focus on player development, and is a proven winner.
Experience recruiting in LA or TX is not mentioned. I think the right guy can recruit anywhere. Having any experience with southern or LA/TX culture would be a plus. Narrowing a search to only guys who have recruited LA would be short sighted.
I love Toney. Dose he want to be a HC? Does he have the leadership skills? Could he put together a staff? A LOT of unknowns there.
If the cULture is real, "keeping the band together" should not be the priority. Finding the most qualified people with integrity and drive that we can and giving them unrestrained financial support should be our priority.
If Toney is that guy, that would be wonderful.

He mentioned recruiting Louisiana in his zoom press conference yesterday.

I think having a recognizable name amongst HS coaches is necessary. Hudspeth recruited North Shore for Miss State. Billy Napier recruited New Orleans with Burns at Alabama. Neither were complete unknowns in the state of Louisiana.

Definitely has to have a foot in the south.

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
What about Barry Odom currently DC at Arkansas and former head coach at Missouri? Does he have a connection with Maggard? Supposed to be a really great guy and players loved him. Not sure of any Louisiana high school connections but he seems like a coach that could build on the foundation built by CBN.

I know he’s not a southern guy but one name I like is josh gattis. Some of these other coordinators are make too much money as coordinators for them to realistically come here

There is a huge difference in being a coordinator and a HC.

I mentioned him earlier and while he may not be a southern guy, he spent a year at Bama with Saben and 2 years at Vandy with Franklin.

What about a guy who is from Florida, played college ball in Texas, was a finalist for National OC of the year, was OC at UAB and Tennessee, QB coach at those 2 schools and USC, developed 3 NFL QBs, was a recruiting coordinator, and is currently a 3rd year HC at a G5 that is going to it’s 3rd Bowl Game in a row, about to play for a conference championship and lighting up the scoreboard?
Any takers?

That's not what he meant. He is hinting at coordinators would come here for similar money to become Head Coach and prove their worth
