Re: MBB G13 Final: Louisiana 73, SLU 72
Whatever dude. I love the players, I love their effort, I celebrate their wins without fooling myself too often. But when it comes to the coach. He’s lacking. The only possible reason to keep adding years to his contract is fear of being worse than mediocre.

While I don’t think it’s fair to throw Wichita State and Butler into the mix as they either don’t fund football or play in the FCS, I do desire a much better program. Gonzaga fits this mold along with many Atlantic 10 and Big East schools (though several do play FCS football).
So the question I have is would you rather make the dance more regularly and drop down in football or continue as we are?
As much as I love college basketball, I would prefer competing at the highest level in football.

I understand what Maggard is doing he is giving Marlin the rope in which to hang himself. It's hard to defend firing a coach who won 27 games does not matter it was against the local biddy basketball teams it makes searching for the next coach more difficult. Now if you give a coach more money, but higher expectations and he fails to meet those at expectations, it's a lot easier to justify a firing and makes the next coaching search easier.
Now Maggard could believe Marling is the guy for the next 10 years he is human and makes mistakes looks at the $10 parking fiasco.

I would rather us drop MBB & WBB before we lose a dime of financial support for football.

Another BS question? Would you rather a bullet in the head or the leg. How’s about neither. It’s not an either or question.

Most aren’t firing Big Fish, they’re just not renewing him annually.

Maybe I misspoke. I like Big Fish, I don’t think he’s good enough by a lot. Actually hoping he proves my fears all wrong, he wins regular season, tournament, and gets deep into the NCAA. Heck even hope he somehow gets a bigger gig. But I’m going with his actual resume as for expectations.

Well damn, I’ll take a bullet in the leg if I must. Either Santa wasn’t good to you or you’re caught up in that western ;)
It is an either or question. Do you want to fund basketball or football?
You can CLEARLY see by looking up and down the Top 25 list that most teams fit one of the following:
1) Don’t care about football and have sucked for years
2) Play FCS football (I just realized Butler has a football team...haha)
3) Don’t even have a football team
I get you would like to be like Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Florida (in the past), Oklahoma, etc. I would too, but we don’t have the funds to contribute endlessly.
Re: MBB G13 Final: Louisiana 73, SLU 72
This team is exceeding my expectations after losing multiple minute-hogging-seniors from last years 27 win season.
Re: MBB G13 Final: Louisiana 73, SLU 72
Nobody hogged minutes. Clearly their backups weren’t up to the task. Example of that are LilRock, and two games later Arlington.
Re: MBB G13 Final: Louisiana 73, SLU 72
Looking over this damned SBC schedule? Is there a West and East? We play the Texas schools once at their place. We play South, and Troy once in Lafayette, everyone else twice.
Currently our prime opponents in the West appears to be TxSt if there’s a West. Sure would like to get them in Lafayette to end the regular season.
