Boulanger expanded capacity significantly with the original bleachers (cheaper bleachers) in the late 80's … and this was obviously before chair backs were in the grandstand (as such capacity was larger in the grandstand back then). For the LSU game in '89 (4-1 loss to McDonald), there were 6236 fans in attendance. We were crammed like sardines. This is when it became obvious that capacity was not quite the 7000 claimed. I remember having a discussion with folks about it in the left field bleachers.

We did get 7583 for the LSU game in '94 … but you had folks in trees behind the outfield wall for that one.

Wow. I can't see how they ever could have had the footprint for that many people without 2500 having no view of the game.

This is why we need tree house seating in the outfield. I would pay top dollar to sit out in right field if they did that.

Since they have to trim the trees for lighting purposes when we host a regional, take out every other tree in the line and bring in some temporary bleacher seating. Then long term, you could build deck/tree-houses as permanent seating. :D

Well that and the fact that the University owns the property in right field between the wall and the track complex. Not really sure where the property line is on the left field side but it may be too close to the houses back there.

The sidelines were different further away from the field, and the bleachers went almost to the outfield fence. No seat numbers in the bleacher seats allowed for an implied seating number. The game was packed even in the grandstand with the numbered seats. Probably four people for every five seats in that numbered zone.

Regardless a mid week game and much more than 4K in the stands. Those numbers will never be broken with the current Tigue, and even the proposed Tigue.
