WHAT A CLAIM

Cavicar was the second person to know that Des was hired!

No one's advocating we overpay our head coach slot here regardless of who's in the job. Its going to vary. But there's CUSA head coaches earning more than we're paying our head coach. What's done is done. No sense going back in time relitigating the hire. However its fair to argue the results in real time. Usually coaches need a 3 year sample size to establish their program. But this situation of taking over a winning program, continuing the 'cULture' program that was emphasized as an overriding factor in the hire? Year One results were somewhat understandable. Year Two? There is the more slippage in every direction. We're obviously becoming a middling Sunbelt team at best. We cannot afford to stay the course we're on because fans are not returning in big numbers for a middle of the road Sunbelt program. If we're serious about getting the football program in position of making the expanded CFP in near future, change is needed now.

Back to the thread title, Southern Baton Rouge just fired their HC. I think he was there only 2 or 3 seasons.

Dan Lanning was for sure interviewed. When we spoke (me and the plug in 2021), there was talk of DL coming to campus, but he's not sure if it happened or not.

Btw, private donors had $3 mm ready to pay Billy to keep him and his staff in Lafayette. But we couldn't pay for a national search and high caliber coach? The truth is, private money wanted to pay a big-time coach. MH wanted to go clearance shopping.

This is my statement on Lanning interviewing and being on campus.
I never saw him on campus and never claimed that I saw him on campus.
I did meet a different candidate at a local watering hole by happenstance but it wasn't worth posting and still isn't.

So when I said it wasn’t accurate, and you said “uhh yea it is” that’s not you stating he was on campus?

Just imagine if Dan Lanning was our Head Coach…geez.

I was reading through this thread and it is so refreshing to see everyone on the same page and getting along like cats and dogs!
