If it's any consolation, we got slapped too...
We had to add "STATE" back into our name when we tried to move to "McNeese University" in the early 80's.

McNeese was part of LSU in 1939, an arm of the school. The 2/3 law was not "required"
In 1950 it was established as a new "stand alone" institution, the Louisiana Constitution required that the Legislature's approval to the tune of a 2/3 vote. It didn't happen.
