Here are our last 8 years attendance averages. This is the highest in those 8years, beating 2003 by one arse in a seat per game.
YEAR ATTENDANCE RANKING
1999 972 24TH
2000 1502 26TH
2001 1465 29TH
2002 1729 29TH
2003 2331 20TH
2004 1443 38TH
2005 1862 31ST
2006 2091 28TH
2007 2332 (NOT SURE YET, BUT I HOPE TOP 20)
We actually had less total attendance this year then last, only because we had 7 fewer home games. But 2332 is strong. We need to keep improving attendance so that we can upgrade the facilities even more.
Good stuff CajunDave, I agree we need to get this place tip-top shape and then we'll be workin around 3k a game! .~.Quote:

Its interesting to think that our avg attendance in '99 was ~950 per game, and that was actually 24th in the nation. As compared to this year's avg attendance of 2300+, the number has increased by ~150%, and yet, our ranking is actually four spots less. It says a lot for the direction of college baseball, at schools who push it of course.Quote:

You may have heard the analogy that Saturday's 28-3 baseball score was like the score in a football game, 4 touchdowns to 1 field goal. . .
Well, what if they scored baseball like football?

UL's baseball team moved back into one national poll Monday, and almost jumped into a second.
The Ragin' Cajuns (38-13) are ranked 28th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, joining Creighton (37-12) as new teams in the top 30 listing. UL was ranked by the NCBWA earlier this year. Michigan and College of Charleston dropped out of the poll.
The Cajun squad is just outside the USA Today/ESPN coaches top 25 poll, ranking second in the others receiving votes (essentially 27th) in its Monday listing.

UL is not in the Collegiate Baseball magazine's top 30 poll after being ranked earlier this season. Baseball America magazine, which rarely acknowledges the existence of the Sun Belt Conference or the UL program, does not have the Cajuns ranked in its top 25 poll.
None of the polls matches UL's ranking in the NCAA's official Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). The Cajuns were 16th last week in the listings that are released each Wednesday, and figure to go up after three weekend wins over Arkansas-Little Rock.
UL was ranked 13th on Monday in both the Boyd's World (boydsworld.com) and Warren Nolan (warrennolan.com) pseudo-RPI listings that include the weekend games. Warren Nolan ranks the Sun Belt sixth among the nation's leagues in RPI and Boyd's World has the Sun Belt seventh.

UL's baseball team has won six straight games and leads the Sun Belt Conference race by six full games, having already clinched the league's regular-season title.
In other words, the Ragin' Cajuns are hot.
Nicholls State's baseball squad is out of the running for a spot in the Southland Conference tournament and currently stands last in the Southland's East Division, to go with a 10-42 overall record. NSU has won only seven of its last 36 games.
In other words, the Colonels are not hot.

The matchup may not be the best tonight when the Cajuns (38-13) travel down Hwy. 90 to take on the Colonels at 6:30 p.m., but UL coach Tony Robichaux isn't taking anything for granted.
"We set a goal two weeks ago to finish up 10-0," Robichaux said after the Cajuns finished off a three-game sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock Sunday. "We're 6-0 now, so we've still got that in front of us."
UL locked up its second Sun Belt title in three years with Sunday's 9-5 victory, and has four regular-season games before beginning its participation in the Sun Belt Tournament next Wednesday in Mobile, Ala. The Cajuns will be the number one seed in that event regardless of what happens in this weekend's final league series at New Orleans Thursday through Saturday.
But there's still a matter of NCAA Tournament seeding, and the possibility of hosting an NCAA Regional event out there. The Cajuns were ranked 16th in the NCAA's official Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) listings last week, before winning the three games from UALR over the weekend.
One of the listed items on the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee's guidelines for team selection is a team's record over its last 10 games.
"It's an important week for us," said Cajun catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who improved his team-leading batting average to .377 with nine hits over the weekend. "We can't afford any kind of letdown, and this team's not the type that's going to do that. We all know how important these last few games are."
The Cajuns, tied for fourth nationally in road wins with a 16-11 mark away from Moore Field, opened the season with a 15-7 home win over the Colonels. That began a disastrous stretch for Nicholls, which was 6-40 as of May 1.
Since then, though, the Colonels have won four of six, sweeping a Southland series from UT-Arlington and taking one win over Southland leader UT-San Antonio last weekend.
UL will start junior lefthander Brent Solich (4-1, 3.59) against the Colonels, and Robichaux said that Buddy Glass will likely throw in an intrasquad situation this week to determine his availability for this weekend's UNO series. Glass has not pitched over the last two weekends with soreness in his neck and shoulder.

Is the Nicholls vs Cajuns game on the radio anywhere, I can't find it.
