Is it the scheme that seems to cause us not to go Johnson’s way more, or is he not a sufficient route runner? I’d trust your opinion with your background.
Also, we’ve got Bernard and LeBlanc returning, but who is going to be our outside mismatch like Jefferson and Stephenson were?
Granted, Stephenson seemed to have too much trouble hanging on to the ball, but he had all the athletic tools and it showed on how he was able to get to the ball vs defenders. Unfortunately he just couldn’t complete the catches with consistency.

No need, you have the market cornered on those, Lombardi.

Re: Trey Amos in the portal
Jeez, Schultz interviewing the beat writer from Gainsville, talkning about how Napier is on the hotseat.
Vegas put Florida's over/under at 5.5 wins.
Trey came up. Dude said Napier caught hell from fanbase for not recruiting Amos hard enough when he (Napier) left UL.
I know I'm being naive, but didn't dude just admit the head coach of the Florida Gators was cheating?

Heard it and I'm not shocked. But neither Shultz or his guest realized Amos was not a starter when Napier left. He took two starters Johnson and Torrence, and one reserve in Waites. He didn't need Amos at the time, he had undeveloped guys on his roster already.

Dude, there is no such thing as cheating in college football any more. Does anyone think Alabama just put out however much money for Amos in fifteen minutes & no due diligence was done prior to his pay off? Even Charlie K Brown isn't that stupid & naive.

Of course track guys would trust each other.

If the self righteous one who ____ed & moaned the most about his competitors using the portal to gain an unfair advantage can use the portal to steal our players, then Mike damn sure doesn't have an excuse not to use the portal for the good of UL football. If he says he's not using it for moral reasons. Then the translation of that is he's too scared to recruit the portal because he doesn't have enough balls, or enough connections to help his team get ahead. Either way, the only person to blame if he doesn't use it is him.
Any coach who can't adapt & adjust to this change in the college landscape shouldn't be employed as a head football coach in college football. It's that simple. Either use the portal to compete & make your team better Mike Desormeaux, or go buy a lucky dog wagon & sell hot dogs like JD Roberts did after the Saints fired him. But don't even call yourself an FBS football coach & you refuse to use all the tools in the tool box.
Dez has used the portal, you absolute buffoon.
He never said he was morally opposed to it. He said he would use it strategically. In other words he wasn’t going to kick kids to the curb just to chase a shiny object. He has used it, and I’m positive he will continue to use it to fill holes as needed.
You create strawmen out of thin air, then rail against them like a lunatic.

I can think of an OL from Mich St. LB from SMU DB from SU just off the top of my head with out going to a roster.

I’m. It sure if it’s the scheme or not. But we sure don’t focus on utilizing the TE.

I’m thinking one of either Broussard or Charles Robertson is that outside receiver
John Stephens Jr. has NFL size (and NFL pedigree). I wouldn’t be surprised if he sticks around the league for a bit

Jayroe needs to put on weight but I think he can contribute at some point next season.
15 targets? So if we are attempting 35 passes a game, he should get 43% of the attempts?
I agree that Johnson is not utilized nearly enough, but that seems excessive. I think 8-10 would yield great results and add the benefit of opening up opportunities for the WRs, as he would necessitate double coverage.

You're right for once Charlie Brown. He ain't kicking anyone to the curb because he's too busy picking up his chicklets from getting his own ass curb stomped by all the guys leaving the program. You can use that "strategic use" psych up language all you want. But if this guy doesn't get really busy real soon poaching other people's players, then your blessed coach is going to be staring up at the rest of the SBC west for however long the founding fathers give him to look. And as slow as Martin Hall is to extinguish the fires of failure, especially from a favorite son, It could take five years of straight losing seasons & 200 people per game before the old blue hairs wake up & realize UL & ULM are running neck & neck for the lead in the bottom ten pole.

Can you refresh my memory how many did Des loose to the portal since the season ended in 2022?

For the most part we should only lose those worthy of NIL in amounts larger than we can support . . .
