Re: Houston Basketball -- Apathy before Sampson
Sampson may not be the best coach in America but it doesn’t take long to call the roll of those better. His teams play with so much grit that it makes it a blast to root for them. Quannas will have the Cajuns playing the same way. They work their rears off.

For all the hype McNeese didn’t even make it into the Top 50 NET rankings and was a 12 seed.

I’m not saying coaching isn’t a factor. I’m saying all that other stuff will have to be there too if we want to compete on a national level.
Re: Houston Basketball -- Apathy before Sampson
Before we do anything, it has to start with a mindset.
For years here, we had a basketball staff that promoted what we DIDN’T have. (We don’t have money. We don’t have basketball culture in the south anymore. We don’t charter flights. We don’t have NIL. We don’t have this. We don’t have that.) That’s a failing model if you’re trying to make a sales pitch, and it showed by the awful attendance numbers even after making the NCAA tournament two years ago.
If we want to succeed here, Coach Q is going to have to go into the community and talk with small business and donors about his vision and what it will take to make it happen. Then, it’ll be up to the community to decide whether or not they want to participate. But in order to get that type of support, you have to ASK. In the past, we never did that. Hopefully, that now changes because his vision based on what we said in his press conference is the right one.

Agree. We’ve been hearing that from “fans” for years. We need to step up to get this program back to where it belongs. No more excuses.
