Now he has been in the system so that is a plus, but even the best high school coaches are not successful at the Division I-A level.
North Texas hired a coach that won 5 or 6 State Championship at the highest level in Texas. He never had a winning season at North Texas.
In my eyes his HS experience doesnt matter !
If that's all someone ever had I see your point. But it does matter because it's been coupled with the other experiences he's had. Remember, that was Billy's biggest goal when he started in the business & look at him now.

Best or not, it is absolutely not true . . . Robe, Yvette Girouard, Stephanie Lotief . . . Are all kinds of coaches who are no longer coaches and have not been fired . . . And that is just at Louisiana . . .

Are you questioning the wisdom of Bum Phillips, the Yogi Berra of football? I don't care if you were Dr. Maggard's stoolie, you sir are in now way qualified to question the wisdom of this great American, you, you, you lawyer!

Todd Russell Dodge (born July 21, 1963) is an American football coach and former player, and the current head coach at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas.[1] After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin where he played quarterback for the Longhorns, Dodge went into coaching, primarily at the high school level. At Southlake Carroll he was head coach of four 5A state championship teams in a seven-year span.[2] He moved on to the college level as head coach of the University of North Texas football team, but he was released after acquiring a 6–37 record.
He had never coached college...at all. Jeff Traylor, Hughe Freeze, Gus Malzahn were all guys who came from high school. CMD has been out of high school coaching for 7 years.

People here are using that as experience. All I am saying is being a high school coach and being a college coach is apples and oranges
Not saying high school coaches haven’t been successful but I don’t think you can use that either when it comes to coaching at a Division I-A school
Re: I will not support Mike D (yes I will)
One thing I had forgotten about Coach Dez is his intelligence level. I was recently reminded of the fact he had over a 3.9 GPA when he graduated from UL. He did that in 3 1/2 years while competing at a high level in a demanding sport. He is in the National College Football Hall of Fame for academic success. Quite an honor. That tells me the talk about gaining experience through the benefit of working with Coach Napier has some validity. Logic there he obviously is a quick learner. Bet he was like a sponge in absorbing all the knowledge passed on to him. I also like the fact he was here for a couple of rough years under Coach Hudspeth. You learn more in life from failure than success. Therefore, things that did not work in 2016 and 2017 can be removed from the process.

But we are quite sure he will . . .

You should be smart enough to know that Bum Phillips was making a funny.
