We went 23-12 last year. We won 3 games in the conference tournament to make the dance. We played a respectable game against Creighton. Would you trade an appearance in the NCAA tourney to get back an early season loss to McNeese? Would you trade a conference championship to get back this loss to NwSt? Both of those goals are still ahead of us. We could be 0-11 right now and those goals are still attainable. I want postseason appearances. That may change when conference realignment comes around, but baseball and softball are the only sunbelt teams that will be able to make realistic national championship runs. A sunbelt team will never make the NCAA football playoff. A sunbelt team would have to have only 1 or 2 losses to get better than a 13 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament.
As for your mighty SBC comment. Way to go. Downplay the conference we play in. It makes it easier for you to ____ on our accomplishments when we win the championship which is exactly the point duggie is trying to make.
For my downplay of the SBC, I suggest you look at the power ranking of virtually every SBC team posted by Icitch. Could not be uglier, and we are among the lowest of the low.
The good news? Our talent is far better than our play so far.

In three years.
Re: Meanwhile, in Natchitoches
I can't argue with those numbers.
So if we got rid of Marlin today, what do you all think would be the perception of this job opening in the coaching world? Has to rebuild after year 2, wins 20+ games and Ncaa bid in year 4, and canned 11 games into year 5 with 4 new starters in the lineup.

Not many programs out there that could pull that termination off without some people scratching their head.

Cajun4life & Cajun EXPRESS,
What do you guys think of Bob Marlin? Do you think he is the right man for the UL job?
I would just like for you to make your opinions a little more clear! LOL!!!!

I didn't like the hire from day 1 I was and have been clear. The same for the Robert Lee hire, we have wasted a decade of basketball and it looks like it will push 15 years of ____ poor basketball with one or two good seasons sprinkled in.
Pardon me if I want to see good basketball.

So what you're saying is Marlin had no shot at impressing you. Makes more sense now.
Were you at the final game in New Orleans last year? Tell those players that made the dance that their careers were part of a wasted basketball era.

So, next year let's see on the prediction thread leading up to the game how many people will be predicting UL to lose.
I am worried about every team the Cajuns play.....to many days on the sidelines I guess......

Also what does attending the game in Nola have to do with this?
You think I don't like the players? That is your argument?
Right now we are more talented than any team we have had since '05. Are we winning, outside of D3 and NAIA games I would say no.
Marlin ain't the guy. When you have the right guy you know it prior to year 5.
