The Business Model Isn't Working
The annual report from the Louisiana legislative auditor’s office on UL’s athletic department included two instances where the university’s statement was understated or misclassified.
Duane Bailey, the department’s chief financial officer, said it’s easy to explain why that happened.
“It’s basically the capitalized interest for Cajun Field, the bond that was issued,” Bailey said. “Normally, we wouldn’t have even reflected it, but the auditors had requested that we included it in there. So you won’t see it next year.

Re: The Business Model Isn't Working
Just call it what it actually is, an "Advertising Expense" for the University and be done with it.

Re: The Business Model Isn't Working
It's the lack of attendance, stupid....and making bone headed department mistakes and not taking responsibility for them...
-
Re: The Business Model Isn't Working
The question is: what Atheltic departments across the country are not operating at a large deficit?

Re: The Business Model Isn't Working
Here's the thing.
When you outsource "everything" the profit goes elsewhere, everywhere.

And they will counter “if the students would just follow our iron fisted rules, everything would be peachy keen at ULL”.

If students let "rules" keep them away they have no intentions to attend.

Re: The Business Model Isn't Working
Anyone see where students were asked to leave the BBall game vs USM?

Initially "rules" never have or will keep a single person away.
However, how they were made to feel while there has ruled out their returning.
Not only that, but they become a sounding board that convinces 10 others into not even trying

Students have no interest in Cajuns games. They want to get drunk and make bad decisions in the parking lot, and we put every hurdle imaginable in front of them doing that, to the point where it's easier to just drive to Nicholson Drive

Lots of terms can be used to self justify not catering to the customer.

Re: The Business Model Isn't Working
From FB and Ragin Review...
Towards the end of Saturday’s game against Southern Miss, the Golden Eagle bench started to taunt the UL students close by to where the UL students responded back. The Cajundome staff then stepped in and asked the students to leave the game. Getting wind of this, Coach Zimmerman reached out to one of the students, Doug Edwards, to apologize and converse on how to increase student engagement for future games.
Kudos to Coach Zimmerman for stepping in and understanding the importance of student engagement!

What rules are in place to deter students from attending?

Re: The Business Model Isn't Working
We're watching the total destruction of the "Student Experience" when it comes to sports...sad, I'm sure everyone on this board has great memories of multiple athletic events...
Let's keep it family friendly...

And there it is. Cajundome and UL kicking the fan base since 1985. It’s nice what Coach Zim did, but it cannot be unseen or denied.
Smack talk if rooted in race or vulgarity is off limits. Be creative, I’m sure someone along the way has looked like Buc-ee Beaver.

Nothing says “fun at Cajun Field” quite like Melvin from security standing close enough to smell your toothpaste, so he can make sure you don’t get carried away and say “crap” or “gosh darnit.”
