Marlin Named To Inaugural Pensacola State College Hall of Fame Class

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball coach Bob Marlin will be part of an inaugural 10-member class as Pensacola State College announced earlier this week its 2019 Hall of Fame Class.

Don't kid yourself, Marlin is a good coach.

Marlin will always get a standing ovation at PSC just like Bobby Paschal did at the dome Saturday night, and will in the future. We all have a past.

Outside fan measure success based on postseason accomplishments FGCU & Loyola Chicago would not be household names without deep runs in the NCAA tournament.

Students of the game are just that, they are not the outside world.

The outside world, the 99 percenters look at the surface. Under Marlin the prestige of this university has gone up.

Probation, APR non compliance, and inmates running the asylum preceded him.

Beyond that you are right the outside world only looks at the overall record and that has improved under Marlon as well.

Fact: This University's prestige has gone UP during Marlin's tenure.

Loyola Chicago is 7-5
FGCU is 5-8
So they’ve really parlayed those Cinderella runs into dynasties.

I’m not here to argue marlins tenure. I do think winning 20+ games a year consistently will eventually earn your program status and the tourney appearances will come. As opposed to one lucky Cinderella run automatically means your a good
Program.

I don’t think either of those teams are thought of currently as being any better than smu,ucf, Memphis, umass, st bon’s Of the world. None of those teams have made much noise lately.

He won a national championship while there which kick started his career. He won't be able to accept the honor when it is presented as the ceremony is the same day as our home game against ULM.
His son will attend and accept for the family. Regardless of what you think of him now, I bet most would congratulate him for the honor.

Hate to pop your bubble, the coaching tree of Jim Hatfield has the utmost respect for our program. Think they know college basketball better than all of us combined. This I know first hand.

Hatfield was even here for opening exhibition game.

I couldn't disagree more. We scare no one. 1 NCAA appearance in 8 years does not scare the average program let alone the elite programs. Until we can dominate this poor basketball conference called the Sun Belt we won't get much respect. Winning 20 games is great but when you see what our schedule is and who we beat to get to 20 wins, it’s very unimpressive. Marlin gets paid way to much to get the results we’re getting. Truth sucks but it's reality.

Cajuns are a good coach away from being back to pre death penalty days. And army is about to start winning national championships in football again.

Army technically never won a NC game they were voted champions

20+ win seasons of beating no one in the top 100 RPI. 20+ win seasons of beating nobodys.
