Louisiana Interested in Pettiford

Humble quarterback Jamal Pettiford had issued an oral commitment to the University of Houston at the end of this past season but withdrew his pledge when he felt the Cougars had lost interest.
The expectations were high. The self-imposed pressure was even higher.
So having reached a low point as a senior in high school has Humble's Jamal Pettiford wondering, what next?
"I feel like I let down a lot of people," Pettiford said. "I know people expect big things out of me. I don't know what's going on."
Pettiford had issued an oral commitment to the University of Houston at the end of this past season but withdrew his pledge when he felt the Cougars had lost interest.
Louisiana-Lafayette has expressed interest in Pettiford, who is being recruited as an athlete and is on the Chronicle's Top 100 list of recruits.

"I don't know what happened," Pettiford said. "They just stopped talking to me. But Lafayette is real interested. I would still consider both schools."
Pettiford said he will not sign on national signing day, which is Feb. 2. He wants to wait until the summer.
"I have to make sure everything is what it needs to be," Pettiford said. "I want to make the right decision."
Pettiford threw for 1,475 yards and 17 touchdowns in his first year as quarterback at Humble.
But he spent more time nursing nagging injuries than playing in 2004, finishing with 1,091 yards and 13 touchdowns.
