For the first time in five years, Camp Steen was host to a summer Cub Scout camp.
First- year director of the camp, Lowell Leach, said the camp took place there, before the past few hurricanes destroyed the area. He said, while Camp Steen was rebuilding, the scout camps were held indoors at churches. The day camp registration had dropped, according to Lowell, from about 150 scouts to 12 scouts last year.
