Attempted Burglary At Iberia Parish School

Press Release: On June 16, 2010 at approximately 10:15 p.m. Deputies responded to a theft complaint at 500 Lee St. (Lee St. Elementary School). The school is abandoned at this time. The initial call came in as possible fire at the school due to witnesses observing smoke coming from the area. After further investigation, it was determined that no fire occurred. However, a commercial air conditioner was attempted to be stolen from the school. The air conditioner was located on the School grounds with tubing cut and Freon had leaked from the unit.
Evidence was located at the scene which could lead to the capture of the thief. Anyone with information about this attempted theft is asked to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at (337) 369-3711.
