LA starts USM Softball Series with a No-Hitter by Mallory Wheeler
Turning things around was the top thing on the to-do list for Louisiana softball, and it has done just that in the past two weeks.
After falling below .500 and losing a few Sun Belt Conference series, the Ragin’ Cajuns have dug deep to churn out wins. The Cajuns (25-24, 11-10) are fresh off of a much-needed SBC series win over Texas State, working their way to sixth place in the SBC standings.

We just need to take care of business this week. If we sweep USM, and App loses even 1 in their series with Coastal, we will be no worse than 6th seed in the tournament. If lots of other things happen, we could actually be as high as 3rd.

Sweep would be sweet. Winning the series is critical to keep our momentum going into the conference tournament.

In a weakened/down sec this we are as dangerous as any team in the tournament.

Freudian slip? Seriously, the SBC is not really weakened. What has happened is that the middle of the conference has been improving for several years now, and those of us who have dominated [UL, TxSt, Troy, USA] are all having moderately to severely down years and losing more conference games than usual. The conference has 7 Top 100 RPI teams and Troy is 101. Usually UL and TxSt are Top 25, so yes, those two are down, but ULM, Marshall, CCU, GaSo and others have improved significantly. I agree that we are playing much better lately, and we have as good a chance as anyone of winning the SBC Tournament.

7 inning no hit W for Wheeler.

What a performance tonight. Wheeler threw strikes and let the defense work behind her, which was also stellar. Great win, keep the momentum going.

I completely forgot about the last series starting on Thursday. :(
I guess my broken wrist surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning has me more rattled than I thought. :)

Also got your emoji colors out of wack. That’s a gross color combo, Turbine.

Wheeler with a great defensive play herself to keep the no-no going. Knocked her glove off her hand. Outstanding performance by the Cajuns
