MBB Home Finale: Louisiana 64, Arkansas State 83

Riding a season long three game winning streak Louisiana Men's Basketball hosts Arkansas State on Wednesday in the Cajundome.
Louisiana pulled off a gritty, 62-60, win over Southern Miss on Saturday. Mostapha El Moutaouakkil was the only Cajun in double figure with 10 points but it was the defense that held firm for the win. That game saw 11 lead changes and Louisiana's six-point lead late in the second half was the largest of the game for both sides.
Arkansas State, the preseason favorite in the Sun Belt Conference, earned a 95-70 win over ULM last Saturday. Despite the big win, the Red Wolves had lost four of five with the only win over Southern Miss. They enter the final week of the regular season in a three-way tie for second place with South Alabama and Troy and sit a game behind James Madison for the regular season title.
Re: MBBl: Louisiana Looks to Continue Winning Streak in Home Finale

Ark State.
Lets honor Track & Field Championship at halftime.
Re: MBB: Winning Streak on the line for Home Finale
Red wolves beat down Louisiana 83-64. Bad match up, out rebounded 24-56, that says it all.

FWIW, Kobe had his worst game in the dome.
Will finish between 7th and 11th.
Re: MBB: Winning Streak on the line for Home Finale
18 pt differential in free throw points. That set the tone in 1st half.
With that said, this team plays hard. Just don’t have consistent enough offensive play.

Amazingly, PFs were 23/24, almost even.
Men's Basketball: Louisiana Can’t Keep Pace with Arkansas State in Home Finale

Louisiana men's basketball couldn't keep pace with Sun Belt Conference preseason favorite Arkansas State in an 83-64 defeat on Wednesday in the final game of the season in the Cajundome. The game saw 65 combined free throws and eight technical fouls.

Anyone know what the arky state coach said to garnett that caused a tech on coach z?
Re: MBB Home Finale: Louisiana 64, Arkansas State 83
Basically out rebounded and we went on alot of cold stretches with ice cold shooting.
Re: MBB Home Finale: Louisiana 64, Arkansas State 83
Not sure, but to keep yapping and talking to the other Coach, saying we can meet up after the game when the team is down 25 points is not the approach to take. It was embarrassing to see. Ark St is clearly a better team. Quicker guards, bigger inside presence, and they executed when they needed to extend the lead at the end of the 1st half. AK State's Big Guy had 30 points and 21 rebounds. The team had no answer for him. Ford Jr was driving in the paint all game, none of our guards could keep him in front of them.

When was the last time a team at UL did not play hard? We keep saying the team plays so hard. I think all college teams play hard every night. It comes down to how good your players really are and how well coached the team is. Our problem is we do not consistently execute set plays. We also have zero inside presence. This is the biggest downfall for the team when we lost Hosana. The best college basketball teams are at their best when the play inside out.

He told KG that he “wasn’t like that” after he missed a shot. Basically saying he sucked. He instigated it and then of course the refs always catch the retaliation. Zim was telling the refs that their coach started yapping at our players and when the refs refused to do anything about it he started yelling at state coach telling him don’t talk to his players.

I personally say it b/c these guys have had every opportunity to throw in the towel this season. Coach gets relieved before the (conference) season starts, pre-season player of the year out before the season starts.
If these guys can get 1 or 2 solid players and a coaching staff who can get a solid system in place, I think their grit would be tough to play day in and day out in the SBC.
