D1Softball.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll

Here's a little more fuel to motivate our softball team: D1 Softball has a Mid-Major Top 25 poll...not only are the Cajuns not in it, but 3 Sun Belt teams are, as well as two future non-conference Cajun opponents. Coastal Carolina, Texas State and Georgia Southern are the conference teams, Louisiana Tech and McNeese are the non-conference. Cajuns are playing McNeese this Friday afternoon at Auburn.

I don’t really take issue with it. The Seton Hall and Sam Houston losses are obviously not good (especially Seton Hall). The only good win is Ole Miss, who we went 1-1 against.

The next couple weeks will determine a lot and provide a bunch of opportunities to impress or regress.

The only thing that the Cajuns need to worry about is going 2-0 on Friday. Rinse, repeat.

Nothing says know your place like embracing “mid-major” anything.

Uh-uh. No one is embracing anything mid-major and you are foolish for even suggesting anyone is. You should know by now that Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball is not a mid-major program anymore than Villanova and Connecticut men's basketball or Coastal Carolina baseball are mid-major programs. But you look at the topic and make an assumption without reading the first line of the thread that this poll and the teams are being viewed as ahead of the Cajuns. This (perceived) lack of respect can be used as incentive for the Cajuns to remind everyone who is at the top of the pecking order of those teams that are not in one of the 4 "power conferences."

I agree. The Cajuns play more P4 schools than any other so say mid major. On the national level the Cajuns are regarded as a P4.

Don’t worry, some dummy will embrace it. I’m obviously against it in any sport, as I know you are.

But seriously, this is a mulligan year. Next year returning to the Cajun Softball we all know is paramount.

I don't think that works very well.

There was a whole preseason thread about "bulletin board" material and some angle about revenge going into the season and the initial result right out of the gates was less than stellar.

maybe we arent in the poll because the pollster doesnt see us as a mid major.

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps we just aren't in the "major" top 25.
