Re: Is Albineaux "Al" Boudreaux dead? Update on petition for new UL mascot
Besides having a wildlife preserve on campus, coupled with the historical partnership with the Zoo of Acadiana bringing a petting Zoo to all home football games, as well as "The Swamp" being the location of all home football games.....
How is it possible that a representative animal concept "does not align with the University’s brand, its values or interests" ?

So, Wednesday AM early will UL be charging people who try to stand on Cypress Lake? Asking for a friend.

Look, I know you're gonna split hairs with me about how it's not a genetic condition, it's a melanin thing, etc. etc. We've gone through this like four times already.
I don't know why it just does not compute at all with you that the name and general concept of the Albineaux mascot is a nonstarter for any reputable institution in 2025. The fact that the pro-Albineaux crowd will try to hand wave any concerns about this point away is just naive.

Throughout history acadians have had the unique ability not to take mascots and spirit leaders too seriously.
Slugs are just one example.
What about a red or dark charcoal gator character?

Re: Update on petition for new UL mascot
This ridiculous idea needs to go away. We will never have a mascot named after a genetic condition that makes a non white thing white.
