LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana men's basketball team will face Northern Illinois in round two of the MAC-SBC Challenge on February 8 in DeKalb, Illinois. It'll be the first meeting between the programs.

I would so love to go to DeKalb and visit some old stomping grounds. Wish we had a more competitive team though.
I got nothing scheduled that weekend but right before Mardi gras parades start up might be over extending myself

I don't even want to cross the street to watch.

Well I haven't made any games yet this year but watched a few on game pass. The lack of talent is evident even though the team plays hard. Evans looks raw but will be very good with Hossana on the block next to him. Just need a competent D1 point to get them the ball. Wish this NIU game was next year when we have a permanent coach

I think the SBC-MAC challenge will continue next year. Next season we will probably play at a MAC school earlier in the season. MAC school then comes to the Dome in February. Now the format could change. I would prefer to see both games occur earlier in the year.

I would think the ADs want to have more discussions about it. As bad as the Sun Belt is (and it is bad), the MAC is currently #23 in conf NET.
Value is a D1 home game for everyone. But that’s a long way to go for a school that isn’t a draw locally (ie higher travel expense for the visitor, few tix sold for home).
Highest rated team in both leagues is ~100, and that isn’t going to boost at-large chances for anyone.

We've earned our fate as a league. No one in the belt has sniffed an at-large spot in a decade. We are fortunate the MAC plays us.
Sun Belt basketball is like the Delta Tai Chai fraternity in Animal House hosting a pledge party. Somehow Flounder and all the dorks are consistently brought to the same room. We (Sun Belt basketball) are the unwanted dorks. Pouting about scheduling is useless waste of time until a handful of teams in conference are at or near top 50 NET

MAC is probably in worst shape. The SBC dominated the first round of games. Our close loss to Kent State was one of the few defeats the league had during that first round back in November. We had our chances to win but missed too many free throws. Last I looked, Kent State was 10 and 4.
