Sun Belt Football Standings After Week 13
The updated Sun Belt football standings indicate the strength at the top of the divisions and showcase which teams have the inside track at playing for the Sun Belt Championship in 2024. Who has the easiest road and who can cause further chaos at the top?

So, if/when we win Saturdy, we not only win the West, but also host, right? And even in the most unlikely scenario we lose Saturday, we would still win the west, even if s Alabama wins? We just most likely would not host…right?

We win, then we win the West and more than likely host (will come down to the rankings)

No.
If we lose Saturday and USA wins, we each have 2 conference losses. USA owns the tiebreaker over us. They get the division championship.
If we lose, USA wins, and stAte wins, it would be a 3 way tie with the 3 teams having an equal record against each other (1-1). It would then go to whoever has the highest divisional winning percentage. This tiebreaker would also go to South Al, as one of their losses was to an Eastern division opponent. If we win or USA loses, we are in. If neither of those happen, we are out.

If we lose Saturday and South Al wins, they win the west. We would both be 6-2 in conference, but since South Al beat us, they have the head to head tie-breaker.

Saturday is an absolute must-win, and you bet your ass ULM is going to be pumped up to play spoiler against us.
This is their Super Bowl this weekend, and hopefully we match their intensity and focus to keep them from winning it.

Yes, this is a big game for ULM. But remember, 2 years ago we lost up there, and almost all of our starters remember it. Des certainly does... I was at that game, and everyone could see his frustration. We have to take care of business.
FWIW, from 1997-2007, ULM pretty much owned us.* Since then, we have won over 80% of the games. Here are interesting statistics for the game.
*Much irony re: the name change:
1st irony: Swearingen had been in the Leg in 1986, and had been one of the main people who fought to block our name change. The bill that he supported said the name change could only occur if TWO schools were named 'UL.'
2nd irony: he later became president of NLU, and was desperate to build their athletics (he didn't do anything for their academics, it's a common problem).
3rd irony: we weren't going to let them in the conference until we got our name. Well, Swearingen had to promise the NLU supporters something to get them to change their name. So he told them that they would dominate us in football, and they would own the name 'UL,' we would be relegated to the lesser name, 'ULL.' I don't think he was lying, I think he believed it would happen.
Next irony: Swearingen got snagged on his own fishhook, because indeed, for a decade ULM owned us in football. But they didn't get the name.
Swearingen, like so many college presidents, didn't understand that athletics by itself doesn't do anything for a school.

It is always ULM's "Super Bowl", "World Series", everything when they play the Cajuns. Looking at all sports except track & field and tennis here's the all time records & last 10 games.
Football: 33-26 (8-2)
Baseball: 67-23 (8-2)
Men's Basketball: 62-25 (7-3)
Women's Basketball: 26-44 (9-1)
Soccer: 15-6-3 (6-3-1)
Volleyball: 61-21 (10-0)
Softball: 122-28 (10-0)

It will be interesting to see if we are still their main target when they start playing Tech more.
Which will happen, now that the 'Belt is stronger than CUSA.

Not just all of that but they are playing for a 6th win and a bowl invite. We had better be ready.

Playing for bowl eligibility. Looking like there will be more eligible teams than slots this year. Some 6-6 teams will stay home. Not saying ULM would, but they gotta be near the bottom of the pecking order.
