What I'm thinking about reallignment
1. That "TXST to the MWC" was a smokescreen started by TXST to try to force the PAC's hand. It may work but I'm thinking it won't. With the MWC adding UTEP and in serious talks with Tarleton, that tells me TXST is off the table. Smart move by TXST. I figured they weren't that stupid.
2. Today Gonzaga announced to the PAC-12. When you look at the "new" league, there are good hoops schools that have left the MWC. But that move speaks volumes. Gonzaga wouldn't have said yes without knowing the PAC's plans for the one addition. And they weren't coming if TXST is the choice IMO.
3. I truly believe Memphis is back on the table for the PAC, without Tulane or USF. I think the PAC will sweeten the pot and Memphis would love to be in the same league as the Zags.
4. If I'm right, I don't think the AAC necessarily needs to do anything. They don't have divisional play and they have plenty of schools. They COULD add someone, but they don't have to.
5. I think Texas State remains in the SBC, which should make you all sleep better, considering what the possibilities are if they should leave.
That's what I think. We'll see how right or wrong I am.
Oh, and neither UTEP nor UNM would stomach NMSU. That's not on the table.

Jay, need to go live on X/Youtube for a good ole fashioned conference realignment edition of Bird's Eye View.
AAC would look real attractive for Texas State if Memphis bolts to the PAC, I would think.

Aren't UTEP and NMSU in the same conference (CUSA) now? Just read that UTEP has accepted membership to MWC, to join in 2026.

The only reason they were in the same league was out of necessity. CUSA added NMSU because they had no choice once they got raided. UTEP didn't want them. And, there's NO way UNM would tolerate being in a league with NMSU.

When all is said and none, UNM might just end up in the PAC leaving the MWC no choice but to add NMSU over FCS schools.

I think we can all agree that this version of the PAC is in no way a resemblance of its predecessor. This is gonna be just a bunch of school puffing out there chests, acting like they are in a “power conference” while getting skull drug by FCS teams. Texas State will fit right in.

. . . what’s that saying . . . in name only . . . well this is what the PAC will be . . . best your chests young lads . . .

I feel like we're consistently performing at the top across the four major sports, year after year. Given that, it seems like we should be getting more attention. Is it purely a funding issue that's holding us back, or are there other factors at play?

If men's basketball gets in the hunt, I would say your words are true about 5 major sports.

I don't know. UCONN wins national
Championships in basketball (me and women) and can't get a sniff out of P4 conferences. Football would catch up quickly if admitted.
