2024 Baseball Transfer Portal

With the current landscape of college sports, it is now time to worry again about baseball transfers. I saw D1 Baseball is reporting well over 1000 players in the portal already. I am hoping that the portal doesn't hurt us this year. We are already losing some very good talent via draft eligibility (Debo, Langevin and possibly Higgs) as well as some good senior players. Hoping Chase Morgan does not get lured away by a power program and would like Martinez to stay also. With the returning talent and incoming recruits, we should continue to be successful. Would be disappointed if we lose any players that are expected to be major contributors in 2025 to the portal.

Has anyone heard or have information on possible transfers?

Morgan would be the big one I'd think..

I can think of a couple of neighbors who would love to buy a freshman left hander like him

That is what I am afraid of. Hopefully his relationship with Leger keeps him here.

Higgs won't get drafted. He'll either come back or hang it up.

I’m worried about them both being lured away together.

no coach is going to retain any kid offered real NIL

Not a scenario I would like to see. Nightmarish in fact.

East Carolina has hosted like 6 of the last 7 years.

Their Saturday starter entered the portal today.

Sad state of affairs what’s going on in college sports.

Hopefully our Diamond Sports can maintain immunity from portal losses.

The portal is one reason I've totally lost interest in football and basketball as a Cajun fan. Hard to develop continuity and a following with the constant loss of the best players in those sports.
