Saturday Cajun Field information meeting
Did anyone attend the CF informational meeting on Saturday before the baseball game? We were out of town and couldn’t make it.

Heard there is discussion of a new seating plan after the construction is complete. If you were here for the Cajundone reseating, same deal. Based on “current” giving via point system.

I guess the cajundome reseating is the reason why they have overflow crowds at basketball games.
Maybe one day they will figure out entertainment value vs cost of ticket.

They won’t ever figure it out. The current business model of collegiate athletics is only sustainable for roughly 30-40 athletic programs. The other 100 that follow that same model will fail. The reality is that $40-60M in TV money is why the majority of these programs survive.
At the G5 level we should be focusing on increasing our mid to lower level donor base. Increasing our pregame and in game atmosphere. Increasing our attendance and growing an organic fan base.
If we need large contributions for athletics, that needs to come from corporate sponsors without sacrificing the common fan.
We have failed by epic proportions when it comes to this.

Hire someone who has worked in minor league baseball. Build an atmosphere that is more than sports.

Yep. And minor league baseball also has to deal with the best players leaving after a short stay.

Most if not all successful minor league baseball organizations have created an entertainment district around their stadiums to create excitement and bring in more fans.
We actually shat on that idea.

Which is a sane move. The entertainment discretional income is across the river. Would be another area for government to prop up…like downtown, Northgate Mall and at least 2 more coming up in the next decade.

Born & raised on the side of town my friend, government prop up will not happen. In order for that area to be revitalized you must attract employers and they won't come even through Block Grants if crime isn't reduced, education and infrastructure is improved.
