I have not read the book, but saw an interview with him about it. The significance (as you know, because you read the book, but for others) is that his number was always #15 throughout his career. When he arrived at UL after not knowing if he would ever get a job in baseball again, that number 15 was taken. So he took 28 and it is the difference between where he was (physically, mentally and spiritually) to where he is now in the same way.
In just reading and hearing about his obstacles and trials and tribulations in his life and to see how far he has come as a person is quite the accomplishment. He gives all the glory to God, but he will tell you that Coach Robe handed him a life vest when he was drowning.
Loved hearing about his years out of baseball and how he was at one point working at a feed store and then took a job as a pharmaceutical rep and he was the worst pharmaceutical rep that has ever existed.
Good stuff, I am looking forward to reading his book.
