Jacoby Briscoe shaping up to advance in line
Two key starters are gone on the UL defensive line, which marks the beginning of a new era in Ragin’ Cajun football.
With no Christian Ringo and no Justin Hamilton up front, it’s all about others getting an opportunity to shine up front in 2015 and beyond.
Re: Jacoby Briscoe shaping up to advance in line
I have a feeling Briscoe will be a big part of our success or failure on defense. Last year he was woefully out of shape. I still believe this is the weakest part of our team. Let's hope he is more committed this year.
Re: Jacoby Briscoe shaping up to advance in line
We've had better defenses with much worse DLs in recent history. IMO, the DL being "good" is icing on the cake. If they can be serviceable (which they should be with 6 guys being involved), our defense will be fine.
Re: Jacoby Briscoe shaping up to advance in line
We have had 3-4 good defenses in the past 25 years. Line play has usually been a sore spot. I know we have recruited well on the DL but none are proven commodities like Ringo and Hamilton. Will really be interested to see this group play.
Re: Jacoby Briscoe shaping up to advance in line
There were games where ringo and juice got the ball crammed down their throat. They were good but let's not pretend that we just lost warren sapp and JJ Watt.
I've been watching some video of last years games and I think Taboris Lee has a chance to be better than both. He's lightning quick off the snap!

Agree that Taboris Lee has good instincts, and great first action. Nice observation.
Re: Jacoby Briscoe shaping up to advance in line
I thought we stopped the run pretty well last year. The defense last year would not even make the bottom 10 of the past 20 years. Agree on your it takes 11. LBs look good and CBs should be improved. Ready to see how it shakes out.
btw, someone negative repped me for my first comment. If it is you Mr Briscoe I am sorry. And please don't hurt me!!

If he gets in condition, he will be able to play more than a few snaps a series. But he is important, especially in the good line defense.
