Alleged identity thief nabbed after crashing vehicle she attempted to buy
Deputies arrest a Jennings woman after she crashes a vehicle she allegedly attempted to buy using a stolen identity.
According to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Office, deputies received a complaint from a woman that someone was trying to use her identity to purchase a car and Dish satellite service.
An investigation by detectives led to the discovery that Mandi Gallagher, 26, of 1027 Hines Road allegedly traveled to the car dealership herself and attempted to purchase a vehicle, but on the way out of the dealership was involved in a crash.
Detectives said they interviewed Gallagher, who reportedly admitted she gave false information in the initial complaint and no other persons were involved. Gallagher was arrested and released on summons for filing and maintaining false public record and theft.
