Just as Chris Gradnigo appeared to be getting healthy again for UL, the sophomore guard went down with a sprained ankle in the second half of an 83-81 win Saturday over Troy.
Gradnigo, who missed the season's first four games with a staph infection in his left elbow, hurt his ankle when he landed on someone's foot after hitting a 3-pointer early with 17:50 to go. The Lake Charles native did not return to the game, ending up with a season-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

His playing status is unknown for the Cajuns (6-9 overall, 3-2 Sun Belt) going into Thursday's clash with Arkansas-Little Rock (11-5, 4-1) at the Cajundome. UL, currently tied with Arkansas State for second in the Sun Belt's West Division, can move into a tie atop the division by beating the first-place Trojans.
"He definitely will not practice today (Monday) because of that sprained ankle,'' UL coach Robert Lee said. "We'll see how he is this week. Hopefully, he'll be ready because we're going to need him on Thursday night.''
Gradnigo was hot early on against New Orleans on Thursday before getting elbowed in the head by an opposing player 10 minutes into the game. He missed the rest of the opening half but did return and play the second half, finishing with 14 points.
Barr out
In other news, Lee said forward Jeremy Barr will not play on Thursday against UALR but is expected to rejoin UL next week on the road against UAB on Jan. 19 or Western Kentucky on Jan. 22.
The 6-foot-8 junior did not travel with the Cajuns on their recent two-game road trip for personal reasons. He missed an 89-62 loss at Tennessee on Dec. 29 and had played only nine combined minutes in his previous two games, Lee said, due to an allergic reaction to medication.
Barr, a transfer from San Jacinto (Texas) College, started five of the season's first six games before going to the bench. He is averaging 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds this season in 12 games.
