Louisiana rugby player moving up to international play

I am trying to forgive the abuse of our school name and be happy for Gerardo Abascal. (Photo in article)
"We did an interview with Deep South Conference and ULL Cajuns star, Gerardo Abascal, prior to the Deep South All-Star match that was played prior to the USA qualifier match against Canada in July. We wanted to give our congratulations to a new opportunity provided for him, as he will be heading to training camp to play for the Guatemalan National Rugby team. He will be playing with them, in the next coming weeks, to play a tournament in Costa Rica. So we want to wish Gerardo the best of luck and that he has successes in this new endeavor. Play hard, represent Louisiana, and show them what it means to Rage, Cajun style."

Awesome, congrats to him. Are there any schools around here that officially sponsor rugby? Any chance of us ever moving it from club to an NCAA recognized team?
Re: Louisiana rugby player moving up to international play
Rugby is actually not an NCAA run sport

That is mostly correct. Women's rugby is an emerging sport under the NCAA and can be used to help a school come into compliance with Title IX
