Spoken as someone who needs to study more history. There's a whole bunch of folks who would much prefer sticking with Hornets than Cajuns. How about the Jazz? What is more NO and LA than that? O, sorry. That hot bed of Jazz in Salt Lake City has that name.

No doubt 67 Hornets vs Cajuns for a NBA team in New Orleans has to be Hornets.
I do recall a very popular war series in the mid 20th century (I like refering back to the old 20th century) named "Combat". They were in battle in France and of course we, the USA , had a secret weapon a Louisiana guy called "Cage" who of course spoke French and often helped the troup win skirmishes because of his unique language skills, much like the Native Americans in the Japanese front.
Point is Louisiana and Cajuns have been married since then or before with some great country songs by Hank Williams. Then Prudomne & Folse came along and made everybodies taste buds explode calling it Cajun cooking. The prevailing view of Louisiana by America is the early French colonist, and cajuns, and black creoles. There are no Yat's or rednecks to be found in Louisiana only cajuns and black creoles. At lest that is the way I see it.
