Justin Lowe hasn't garnered the attention he deserves as part of the University of Louisiana golf team, probably because he's on a team that includes more than its share of standout local players.
But the Pineville product is starting to change that.
Lowe, a junior-to-be on the Ragin' Cajun squad, took his second straight victory and second win in three outings on the Louisiana Amateur Golf Tour last Saturday.
Lowe turned in a 76 over the mammoth 7,567-yard Koasati Pines course in Kinder, and won a one-hole playoff with Tour points leader Britt Guillory of Lafayette to take top honors.
Lowe birdied the par-five first hole in the playoff, with he and Guillory finishing one stroke ahead of Lafayette's Ben Thibeaux. Fellow locals David Hebert of Lafayette and Brad Landry of New Iberia tied for fourth at 78 in the championship flight.
Lowe, UL's top finisher in the Sun Belt Conference Championships each of the last two seasons, has played in only one-third of the Tour's tournaments this year (three of nine). However, he still ranks eighth out of 43 listed players on the Tour's championship-flight points list.

Youngsville's Mark Faust (76 over a 6,990-yard layout) won the "A" flight for his second Tour win on Saturday, while Sean Landry of Breaux Bridge captured the "B" flight with an 82 and a playoff win over Will Duncan.
The tournament was the ninth of the season on the Tour and was the halfway point, with the next tournament set July 8 at Olde Oaks Course in Bossier City. One of those stops is local, with The Wetlands hosting the next-to-last event on Sept. 30.
Guillory and fellow Lafayette players Bill Land and Mike Declouet lead the season-long championship flight points standings, Faust leads the "A" flight points and Landry tops the "B" flight points. The top 30 point scorers in each flight are eligible to play in the two-day final tournament set Oct. 14-15 at the Links on the Bayou in Alexandria.
State finals winners in each flight receive automatic eligibility and paid entry into the national Tour Championship in Hilton Head, S.C., a Titleist bag and a crystal trophy. The top 10 points leaders, following the finals, are eligible for the national meet, with the point winners in each flight earning a paid trip to the nationals including entry fee, transportation and three nights lodging.

OTHER CAJUNS: Three other UL squadmen were among four Lafayette players to advance to the match play round of last week's Cotton States Invitational at Bayou DeSiard in Monroe. B. C. Thibeaux III won his first match 1-up over Ryan Zamarano of Dallas, but lost to Rory Smith of Big Sandy, Texas, in a 20-hole second-round match.
Michael Smith, the No. 5 qualifier from stroke play which cut the 126-player field to 64, lost to Rob Laird of Tulsa, Okla., 2 and 1, and Morgan Landry fell to Jeff New of The Woodlands, Texas, 2 and 1. Landry had qualified 12th and Thibeaux 29th.
Lafayette's Mark Tolson also reached the match-play round but lost in the first round to top-10 seed Andrew Carroll of Little Rock, Ark., 3 and 2.
