HUNTINGTON -- Chris Yandle, a Marshall University Sports Information graduate assistant, was selected for one of two postgraduate scholarships awarded by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Yandle is the recipient of the Wiley Smith Postgraduate Scholarship for the 2006-07 school year. Wiley Smith was the long-time Sports Information Director a Northern Arizona. To be eligible for either the scholarship candidates must maintain a 3.0 GPA and have an interest in sports information as a career.
Yandle, who earned a bachelor's degree in public relations from Louisiana-Lafayette in December 2004, worked with the Thundering Herd football, softball and women's swimming teams. Yandle has a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a master's in athletic administration.

Chris is a great and talented guy who was an exceptional student assistant in the SID office. He did a lot of work in upgrading the look of the media guides.

Chris Yandle Back where he belongs (I think) as UL's Assistant Sports Information Director and as the Contact point for Volleyball, Men's Basketball, and Baseball.

More than a year after rejoining his alma mater as the Assistant SID, Chris Yandle was named Assistant Director of Media Relations at Baylor University effective July 2008.
Yandle will serve as the primary media contact for Baylor's nationally ranked men's basketball and men's golf programs. He joined the Baylor staff after spending 13 months as the Assistant SID at his undergraduate alma mater, University of Louisiana, where he was the media contact for the volleyball, men's basketball and baseball programs.
Prior to being named to the Assistant post at UL in May 2007, Yandle was a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Media Relations at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., working directly with the football, women's swimming and diving and softball programs.
In June 2006, he received the Wiley Smith Post-Graduate Scholarship by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
While at Marshall, he also received on "Best in District" and two "Best in Nation" citations for his publications by CoSIDA. He earned his master's degree in athletic administration from Marshall in May 2007.
Yandle spent three years in the UL SID office as a student assistant from August 2002-May 2005, earning his bachelor's degree in public relations in 2004. He was also a two-time recipient LSWA Ace Huggins Award which is given to a student assistant SID in the state of Louisiana for exemplary work both in the classroom and in sports information.
He is married to the former Ashleigh Anthony of Lafayette and the couple is expecting their first child, Addison Elizabeth, the first week of July.

Yep, sorry to see him go. But I wish him and his family nothing but the best over in Waco. At least this is a UL alum moving upward in his career. On the the Big 12! Good luck, Chris!

At 7:25 Thursday morning, Yandle became a father after wife Ashleigh gave birth to a 6-pound, 14-ounce girl named Addison Elizabeth Yandle.
