Give me a recognizable mascot

The pepper is almost as dumb as the hilltopper. UNT is the Mean Green and have an Eagle, Tulane is the Green Wave and have a Pelican, MTSU Blue Raiders have a horse, Miami Hurricanes have a pelican also... Can we be the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns and have a angry looking crawfish as our mascot. It would have character, be intimadating, and it's RED too. The only bad thing I can see is mistaking it for a Lobster. But if you can't put Ragin Cajuns with crawfish we don't want to associate with you anyway, HAHAHA. I mean really, I'm a huge cajun fan and when I see the pepper running around I think, I must be the only person who knows what the hell that thing is. It looks nothing like a pepper, and what is tough about a pepper anyway. This is football not cooking. Maybe that's our whole problem we're to soft all the way around. Stop thinking about how good we cook and go hit somebody!!!!!! ::x::

I like your ideas and HotBoudin's, but the Miami Pelican Ibis doesn't bother me, they are all the way in Florida.

The one I really like is the BullGator.

UL has had a BullGator habitat ( worth millions, priceless really ) on campus since the founding of the school.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, The world thinks crawfish=Louisiana. Most people including myself don't even know they have state dogs. Sorry I'm sticking with Crawfish.

P.S. do you have any idea what kind of dog Tennessee's mascot is?

I like the bullgator idea. It needs to be BULLgator though, not just gator that's not original.

I'm sorry, what I meant by the Miami Hurricanes having a Pelican as a mascot had nothing to do with the location of the school. What I meant with those school are that they are examples of school who have a mascot different than their names, that's all. What does a bird have to do with a hurricane, or an eagle with mean green, or a pelican with green wave, see what I'm saying. We could be the Ragin Cajuns and have a crawfish instead of "what is that thing" pepper. .~.
