HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — UL interim director of athletics Scott Farmer plans to meet with women's basketball coach Errol Rogers sometime in the next two weeks to evaluate his future with the program.
The Ragin' Cajuns (11-19) ended their fourth season under Rogers with a 58-53 loss to South Alabama on Saturday in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament. This was the final year of Rogers' contract.

No...it's certain. They're just uncertain as to when to announce it.

With all the buyout talk last year . . .
I would have thought the performance threshold for end of contract retention would have been laid out then.

My guess: Out of respect for Errol, they want to tell him before they tell Ragin' Pagers like me :) It'd be interesting to see what reasons they could possibly give for retaining a coach with his lack of success at the end of his contract.
The only thing retaining him says is that women's basketball isn't as important to us as other sports. Or that we don't have the time to search for a coach right now, with all this other stuff going on. Which I guess is the same thing. It'd be interesting to hear the justification they'd give for retaining him. I can't see it happening.

How about this one. When we bring in a new women's basketball coach, Title IX is going to require that we pay him in the neighborhood of 200K. Much more than Errol is making now, for a sport that even when it was successful did not generate any revenue.
Don't get me wrong, I think we need to get a new coach, however, that is a pretty legitimate reason for not getting a new coach.
Re: Rogers future uncertain
J Kelly Hall made nowhere near what Evans was making at the time. When did this thought process change?
I thought Title Nine was about student athlete opportunity not coaches pay.

Wasn't Hall's wife co-head coach at UL? I wonder if she would be interested in returning? They both wanted to come back to UL last year.

I was wondering the same thing...I have no idea how involved she was with coaching. She would definitely get a lot of love down here.

They wouldn't have to pay nearly that much. Errol was making about 1/2 of what Robert was making. They'll probably pay the new coach somewhere around 125 if they make a change.
But there's no guarantee they will. With no associate AD right now, it would be tough for Scott to conduct a search with so much other stuff going on.
If that were the case, it wouldn't be because UL doesn't care. It would be because the fans don't care.
Re: Rogers future uncertain
Ok. I thought your woman's pay was some percentage factor of how much the men's coach got paid.
Also, the Halls as the Lotiefs were in a unique situation, because they could not be an assistant due to nepotism laws. Therefore, they came up with the co-head coach deal.
