<i>Ragin' Cajuns beginning to enjoy noisy fans for home games </i>
LOUISIANA La. — This could get to be habit-forming.
University of Louisiana played before 25,083 fans last Saturday at Cajun Field, and came through with a 24-17 Sun Belt Conference win over Middle Tennessee that may bring fans back for more.
“That was the first time I played in a stadium that loud at home,” said UL safety Antwain Spann, whose interception preserved the victory with 39 seconds to play.
“It got loud a couple of times when we were on offense,” running back Chester Johnson said. “But that’s all right. It didn’t bother us. It gave us a lot of energy.”
“I can’t thank the crowd enough,” coach Rickey Bustle said. “I really think they helped with (causing) some of the penalties for Middle Tennessee when they were trying to make some calls late in the game.
“That’s another lifeline for us. We realize that winning gets them in the stadium, and we want to keep doing that.”

Bustle was delayed getting to his weekly media gathering on Monday because there was so much to be said at the Quarterback Club luncheon across Cajundome Boulevard.
“The response last year was good,” Bustle said, “and there are more people believing now. It’s a snowball effect, I hope.
“There were more people volunteering money to help us in recruiting. After that, I hope we can have another meeting tomorrow.”
The Cajuns are 2-2 overall, 2-0 at home and 1-0 in Sun Belt Conference play heading into consecutive road games at SBC members Florida International, New Mexico State and Idaho.
“I’m really pleased with where we are,” Bustle said. “We have two wins, one of them in the conference, and that’s big. The way we’ve played in these four games, I’m pleased.”
Bustle saw more signs of good play when he reviewed film of the Middle Tennessee contest, including a fourth straight game of “pretty solid” play on special teams.
Freshman David Schexnayder took over the punting duties and all three of his kicks were downed inside the MT 20, including a deflection claimed by the Cajuns to keep a drive alive.
“Our defense had its best total game, passing game wise,” Bustle added. “And we were better against the run. The defensive line got off their blocks better. We were able to play the run with fewer people in the box, so we could still defend the pass.
“Our game plan was that they could complete the underneath routes, but nothing deep. I saw a lot of tackles in 1-on-1 situations where the receiver caught the ball and didn’t get any further.
“You can teach aggressiveness, but some aggressive hitters aren’t good tacklers. Our secondary does a good job of wrapping up and running through the receiver.”
“Our defensive philosophy is bend, don’t break,” Spann said. “We feed off each other when one of us makes a big play. It gets us hyped, crunked up.”
That kind of hitting was also evident on offense as the Cajuns ran for 192 yards against the Blue Raiders.
“That was the most physical our offensive line has been since we’ve been here,” Bustle said. “We have our zone and power plays, and we were hitting them in the nose and driving people back. And our backs were running hard in there.
“You have to study the film to see how physical the line was.
And there were only two hurries allowed. That gave Jerry Babb time to make his reads and his throws.
“And, (offensive coordinator) Rob (Christophel) does a good job of moving that pocket.”
The good vibrations and big crowds will continue if the Cajuns handle their business on the road the next three weeks.
“Every week, we try to get better,” Johnson said. “It doesn’t matter who we play.
“I don’t keep up with the rest of the Sun Belt. Like (offensive line) coach (Mike) Gibson tells us during the game, don’t even look at the (UL) defense, because that’s something you can’t control.”
That kind of focus is why the Cajuns are headed in the right direction.

Hey Tubine, I've upgraded to the latest version of Real a couple of weeks ago, yet nothing still comes up when I try and view the video. Is it because I'm using Firefox? Or could something else be wrong?

I'm noticing that the players often quote the coaches in interviews. Everybody on the same page. Philosophy bought and sold. We haven't had that in a long time.
